>Raspberry PI 2B
>Solar panel
>Lead acid battery from the trash bin
>heapo USB Wireless dongles WITH EXTERNAL ANTENNA
>Old TV parabolic reflector.

Here's what I'd do, I'd program a script on the RPi to constantly search for WiFi signals, and auto-connect to open WiFi networks, then re-broadcast them on the RPI's ethernet. Then I'll butcher the dongle's antennas by taking it off from its socket, then creating a double biquad, and mounting it on the parabolic reflector, then connecting the biquad to the dongle. Now, I can connect to WiFis up to multiple kilometers away, and re-broadcast them right here, which grants me free internet, in my local network. Now, I'll remove my current satellite dish from the top of muh house, and mount the parabolic reflector, and run ethernet down to my house. The solar panel and lead acid will keep it powered forever off-grid, that means I can still have internet in-case of power outages. Also, the mount on my home has a motor, which means I can perform a 360 deg search.

It's a dream desu, if only I can get around to building it...

I like the idea but not many places with free wifi have very good internet
>>
>>51945098

You dont understand how radio tech works. You won't get 2.4ghz or 5ghz more than a mile with direct line of sight. You would have to rig up two bridges on a frequency like 900mhz to get that kind of distance. It can be done, just not on tech from Best Buy.
