Hey /g/, is 93 degrees C an okay temperature for my CPU? I'm getting kinda worried... It's an rMBP..
>>
>>51942056
it is not an ok temperature for your CPU.
>>
>>51942056
No.

Your shit is fucked.
Are you running anything on it right now, or is that idle?
>>
Just hold it a few inches above your desk and drop it :^)
>>
thats normal for apple stuff
>>
Your CPU is well within specifications anon. There's no need to worry. You'll replace your MacBook™ long before it malfunctions.
>>
>>51942074
Just a scenery generation script for my xplane game that I think is very CPU intensive... It's not this high when idle...

But how can my shit be fucked? I've maxed out all my fans...
>>
>>51942099
i dunno family but the most i'd be comfortable with under max load would be under 80 or 75 c
>>
>>51942099
What's your usage % right now?

As long as you're below the max operating temp, you're not in trouble, but if that's an idle temp....
>>
The hardware will detect if its too hot and shut down to prevent damage. However prolonged high temperatures may reduce lifespan of the CPU. If you're not running at 90C constantly for weeks straight there is nothing to worry about.
>>
>>51942114
Cool thanks.
>>51942118
It's around 95-100%. It cools down to around 60-70 when idle..
>>
>>51942146
Then you should be safe. Again, as long as you don't go above max operation temp you're not getting thermal shutdowns all the time, don't worry about it. You'll get a bunch of nerds who obsess about MUH COOLING and waste a lot of money running their machines almost colder than their recommended temps because... dunno.
>>
How do you know how hot your CPU is? Is there some special thermometer tool you stick in there?
>>
>>51942056
no thats normal for all macbooks
they usually hit 104c (or whatever tjmax -1 is for you computer)
>>
>>51942513
just google "monitor cpu temperature" you can use the same sensors your computer uses to guess cpu temp
>>
It's getting hot, isn't it?
>>
>>51942513
open hardware monitor
>>
>>51942693
it is, but apple tards will say its perfectly fine while their macbook is dying from running at 100c constantly
