Picking up a pair of HD 7 DJ tomorrow for the local equivalent of 200 burger dollars
They will be "outside" headphones since I have a pair of K550's I wear inside because they're good, but they're big, bulky, leak too much sound for a closed pair, make my ears sweat and the headband heats up badly during summer. Great headphones for the price I paid for them (180 american dollars), but not that good of an outside pair.
Any reasons I should avoid the HD 7 DJ? strong bass, foldable, lots of pressure ensure less sound leakage and from the "reviews" (they were more like ads desu) on youtube also quite durable.

download apo equalizer and peacegui for it, its a system wide EQ

If you're using android you can use ViperFX which is like the best EQ you can get in a smartphone period.
iOS has a tweak called EqualizerEverywhere that gives you a 10-band EQ.

I would like to note that I keep seeing the MDRV6 and 7506 pop up in these threads. Is it really that good for the price or is it just the same guy making the same rec? Either way, I've liked what Ive seen and will more than likely get the mdrv6.
>>
>>51939449
Same guy. Also calling the MDR-V6 'over-ear' is a huge stretch since the pads are tiny and they do sit on your ears.

>>51939566
Not the Anon you are talking to, but the v6 does goes down to 5hz, having lower and higher ends far beyond the human hearing diminishes distortion on the actual hearable low and high ends.
Also, v6 is over-ear, v-moda m80 is on-ear, there's a big difference as one may touch a bit of your ears if they are big enough while the other rests most of the entire pads on the ears.
>>
>>51939666
v6 doesn't even go down to 20hz let alone 5hz stop posting.

Sennheiser HD 335s

Jbl 55i (not very good, on ear)
Skullcandy titans (shit)
Klipsch r6i (good sound quality and comfort, lasted maybe 3 months)
Soundmagic e10s (current, nice so far, got the idea from a pastebin list that used to be in the sticky)
Also using G.SKILL ripjaws sr910 for muh gayms on pc. Not sure if that really counts.

Is sennheiser a meme, and if so what's the best for over ear headphones? Sony? Audiotecnica? Shure?

A friend told me about those, but wasn't sure, since he's been known to shill for products that are usually of bad quality. I'll have to check them out. Talks for the help!

Looking up headphones, for me, at $50 everything should include the option for swappable or replaceable cables. Yet some don't. Some $100+ models don't. And that's silly as fuck.
>>
>>51940306
Between the two, the XPT100 is very neutral whereas the Pro 80 is a bit more "fun". Also the XPT100/Brainwavz HM5 pads fit on the Pro 80, so comfort is pretty much equal.
Hope this helps somewhat. I'm using the headset version of the Pro 80s open version, so AMA about those.

Is this one actually good and worth the price?
If not is there any good over-ear headphone for casual use with $200 or less?
>>
>>51940343
How's the Frequency Response and Impedance? Is it at all possible to get the numbers on those stats?
Also, is the sound shape generally the same as the XPT100's?
>>
>>51940484
On mine (open-back version) the treble's a little bit hot in my opinion, but not really sibilant. The mids are nice and clean and the bass isn't too strong but definitely has a nice kick to it where needed.
The Pro 80s supposedly have a bit more bass, because they're closed.

Impedance (or efficiency, rather) is quite good, my phone and laptop can drive them without a problem. Definitely viable for portable use.

The XPT100 is a very neutral, very flat headphone from what I've heard. Less treble, less bass, very good for mixing but maybe not as enjoyable for music listening.

Guys, I've had the same pair of headphones for 6 years (Audio Technica ATH M40fs) and they've been fantastic but they're falling apart so I need a new pair.

I'm so happy with how they sound (very crisp, accurate reproduction of all the freqs) that I'm considering finding the same model somewhere even though they're long discontinued.

How are the newer M50x? I mainly use them for recording guitars and bass but I also listen to music and play games with them.

I posted about the Dragon fly earlier, thankfully it's just my USB extension (dragon tail) which is falling apart on one end where the sound card connects to.

Needless to say the build quality of these products is not nearly robust enough to withstand my usage which is not asking much to be fair because I'm normally careful with my equipment but for now I'm glad I can just plug the dragon fly directly into my laptop until I purchase another dragon tail. As you can already probably tell I'm not very knowledgeable with audio equipment but my experience with audio quest products has left me curious about other vendors, at the moment I'm considering the FiiO E17K Alpen2 unless it requires bloated software because I just need a clean solution that works reliably preferably under any OS

What mid-range headphone will fulfill these requirements?
>>

since its laptop and phone, will you be using them in public space? if so, you want closed so other people cant hear you. otherwise you want open, because it's regarded to have the best quality.

you must understand, open means that the cups on the outside are completely open. they are purposely letting audio out. even at a regular volume someone next to you or even a cubicle over would easily hear what youre listening to, depending on ambient volume. thats not a problem?

thats silly. spend 10 bucks more and get some porta pros

>>51946326

And yet they can't match the sound quality of PortaPros, which basically nothing has ever done except other Koss products like the SportaPros and the rather awesome KSC-75 earclips (which I happen to be wearing as I type this).

PortaPros, basically unchanged since they were introduced in 1985 and I still have a 1st gen pair (and a 1st gen pair of Sony V6 too purchased in 1986).

Basically 30 fucking years have passed and nothing has ever come close to either of these products and probably never will.

This is model dependent.
Some have hard tips that don't flex well, you can buy new ear tips for that.
Sometimes the body or the stem gives you comfort trouble, and you can't do much about that.

RE-400 had great eartips, but the stiff cable connector would poke at my ear. Just an example.

Also, most people seem to have no idea how to wear form tips. You are supposed to roll the overhanging foam behind the nozzle so that it cannot cover up the sound port.

Hey /hpg/ how's it goin, I need some advice.
I've got a pair of HD598s, and a pair of Fidelio X2's, and my computer's onboard audio is pretty garbage, I've ran my HD598 through an SMSL Fort (http://www.amazon.com/SMSL-PCM2704-Convertor-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00LUS8IPA) for the past year or so, which has done an adequate job however there is a slight hiss which definitely comes from the SMSL Fort.
