Coolink Silentator. Bought it because of the cool name and low prize in 2009. Have replaced the original fan with a Noctua.

btw is there someone who knows the fastest cpu available this cooler supports? No need for a gaming rig, but my Athlon II x4 is getting old and I'm planning to buy used hardware.

Cm hyper 212+ with an Aerocool DS fan. Gutted a broken cheapo fan to make the short duct, which substantially reduces wind noise by putting some distance between the spinning air from the fan and the stationary heatsink fins. Not pictured is a strip of foam down the middle of the cooler that forces the air across the heatpipes. Works great and there's a noticeable improvement in both temperatures and noise compared to just strapping the fan on directly.

This is my PC idling, when I play games lately the CPU goes up to 90 C, GPU gets pretty high too. It's a stock fan, and I haven't applied thermal paste since I put this together in 2012. My PC has pretty poor airflow I think, since part of my desk covers the top and the back is a few inches from the wall. I also probably don't dust it properly; I just run my finger where I see dust. Should I get a new fan, reapply thermal paste, or both? Or look into additional/alternative cooling solutions?

imo easily the best looking air cooler.
>>
>>51932447
Change your thermal paste and you're guaranteed a three degree drop minimum at full load.
Dust the heatsinks and fans to drop it another one degree. I guarantee you that your 560Ti is choking on dust right now.
Move your case on top of your desk or elsewhere to give the top and back intake some breathing room. Another potential degree drop there.
Do some proper cable management and you might see another one degree drop depending on whether or not you're cleared the airflow path enough.

And invest in another intake fan or a better CPU heatsink.

I know it's a beast but I needed the airflow for my two 860 lightnings when I built it

I've got the biggest fans it can take all hooked up to a fan controller with a sensor controlling that. Smallest is the rear exhaust which is 140mm. Not including the 92mm fans on the gpus.
So in all fairness it moves alot of air but it's barely audible. Weakest point is that V8 oldschool cooler.

360mm and 240mm with clear water and coloured tubing, and an additional NB cooler. If you can tell me a better way to make the tubing work between a CPU, two GPUs, a northbridge, two radiators and two pumps, I'm listening.

But yeah, OK m8
>>
>>51933554
Just kidding. Ive seen much worse. For reals though, you should add more radiator. Is that case the enthoo primo? I think it can handle a 480 in the roof and 360 on the floor. Really depends on what cpu and gpus youre running and what clock youre looking to get put of them. Just looking at the length of your cards theyre probably like what? 250w tdp each?

I had a 60mm thick 360mm and same brand 240mm when I was running my fx-9370 and 2 gtx 670s. Everything insanely clocked up and all ran super quiet.

It's not for redundancy. They both run at the same time. However, obviously, if one fails, this has the added benefit that the computer can continue to run OK if one fails.

Cooler Master Hyper TX3. It was cheap, and it works. I'd like to find a low profile cooler for my Athlon 860k so I can cram it into a mini ITX case though.
>>
>>51933719
Yea its cool. I was just being a prick for the sake of being one. I miss my loop is all :(. Money isn't an issue for me as I can go back to a full loop with basically unlimited budget if I wanted to, but for time constraints and practicality reasons, I won't.

Had a 90 degree barb break on me during a tear down. What was supposed to be a 2 hour routine turbed ibto 5 days waiting for the fitting because it completed my loop and they happened to be out of stock. M8s were playing together online and I was sitting waiting for parts.

Bought a top end air cooler since then because with how much I work, whats the worst that could happen with an air cooler? A fan dies? Those are cheap and sold even in places like best buy if I absolutely needed one.

What pumps? I had a jingway 1200 (OEM company for EK and Phobya pumps). Had it hooked to a fan controller and manually turned way down. Less than 2 gallons per minute. Temps didnt take a hit and my hard drives made more noise honestly.

>>
>>51931132
Clean your fucking....Everything. that shit is gross
>>
>>51933850
Not really. Watercooling your PC just means that the heat from the components gets transferred to the air in the room more efficiently, so if anything your room will heat up faster.
>>

Guess I'll have to move to a colder place then.

Technically cooler-running parts put out a bit less heat but not by much. If price is no object get aircon.
>>
>>51933850
Water cooling will simply make the components runs cooler, but the components are still generating the same amount of heat. It is just the heat is being taken away more efficiently. Really nothing you can do unless you open a window or otherwise bring cooler air into your room.

My room used to be a good 25F hotter than the rest of the house when I was liquid cooling my fx-9370 @5.2ghz. That paired with dual r9 290s.

Got this for about 15-20 eurobucks in sale as the 212 Evo is genuinely gimped in Europe and I didn't wan't to spend much.

10/10, their marketing bullshit wasn't bullshit, this thing is utterly silent at all times, I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU to one that turns its fans off at idle, then the loudest thing in my case would be the spinning HDD (at idle, ie most of the time). The base plate is completely copper which was nice for the price and the little fan above it to cool the power delivery actually werks.

I guess their popularity declined because product releases and updates became less and less frequent, and other coolers started performing better for less money over time.

Well, head pressure versus flow is a complex thing. The performance of a pump is plotted as its max head pressure (no flow) and its max flow (no head pressure).

I've had a few leaks here and there where I've been working on it - all distilled water, no damage done

their is on the right side, you can see the fan wire wrapped around it.
>>
>>51935145
Either you didn't open the image or your monitor is really shit, that has the stock fan.

I've hot swapped fans on a 212 before, with the processor idle. You'd need a pretty low-power processor for it to be safe at load without a fan, maybe 35W or so. IDK if 45W would be safe. but usually passive coolers are more reliant on case fans and it's much better to just have a low-speed silent fan on the cooler.
>>
I have a hyper 212 evo on a 4690k @ 4.2 ghz. If i watch twitch streams/just a stream my idle temps can go from 38/42C +. Never reaching above 60 C in games though, usually stays at 58 C. Am i "safe" ?

>>
>>51938091

Don't use those industrial fans unless you know what you are getting yourself into - 2000rpm is not silent by any means. Go look up the likes of arctic's F12 fans - they are cheap and perform well.

hmm, are they ok when running at lower RPMs? The frio has 1500-2500RPM fans but they are manual speed adjust only, currently I have one installed and set to 2000RPM.

I know that no fan will ever be silent at high RPM's but I don't mind as long as they are silent at lower speeds. I looked at those artics but they don't appear to have much static pressure for radiators.

Has anyone tried the akasa 12cm viper? They have good static pressure and can go upto 1900RPM if needed.

You don't need massive static pressure on a cooler thats barely thicker than the fan mounted to it. You should see how thick (and dense) the heatsinks are on coolers like the D15, R1 ultimate, silver arrow and whatnot.

Go look through those vids - they list the specs on screen and show off the fans running at various voltages.
