What's your favourite program for transferring a large mass of files?
I'm looking for a free one preferably, what would you suggest?

It depends. For transferring files between my own computers, scp/sftp. For sharing a files with someone on the same LAN, a temporary webserver (using woof). For anything requiring persistance, e.g. posting a link on a public forum, IPFS (ideally; in case this is not an option, I copy it to my server and serve it over HTTP).
Torrent.
- simple
- secure
- peer to peer
- with automatic hash checking of content
