I bought a new headset for my PC but the connector is a single 3.5mm jack, it is supposed to work on my phone but it doesnt, unless I plug in the detachable microphone.
The headset is a HyperX Cloud II and the phone is a Moto X 2014.
Is there any way to fix this ? Buying an adaptor maybe ? Downloading an app ?

I'm looking to upgrade/get a 2nd monitor. Right now I have a standard 24 inch, Benq "gaming" monitor. Its a TN panel and I really need to replace it. I'll still use it, but not as my main monitor, would prefer to rotate and have it as my secondary monitor.

Anyways, I'm looking for a suggestion. Should I get a 27" 1440p and have my other one as a secondary? Or just get another 24" 1080p? I have space for either one. My budget is like $250-$300 or so. I definitely want an IPS panel.

Here's my stupid question

Are 6 core processors worse than 4 core processors for gaming?
>>
>>51922025
Yes and no.

Which processors you are trying to compare?

Mainly because most games will use maximum up to 4 cores, never gonna use the 5th and 6th cores.

Most of the time they will only use 2 cores, reason why intel CPUs are considered superior for gaming.
>>
>>51922048
The intel 5930k vs the 6700
>>
>>51922063
For starters one is a high end CPU and the other is a high-mid end CPU, also not unlocked.

i7 CPUs are usually considered bad for gaming because hyperthreading.
the i7 5930K is slower than the 6700 in single thread use, but in multithread/core the i7 5930K is superior.
And the i7 5930K is from the 2011 socket and expensive as fuck for its perfomance.

If you are going to play games you are better getting a recent I5, you wont even reach 60% usage at full settings on one like the I5-6600K.

I have Windows 7 installed on an SSD, and today it refused to boot, every time I restarted it, it became slower to the point that getting past the BIOS screen took a minute or two. This had never happened to me before, so I'm quite confused. I tried formatting the SSD and reinstalling on it again after backing up everything on my other 2 HDDs, and it worked fine for the first hour when I was installing the drivers, but after 2 resets required by the drivers' installers now it went back to being frozen. What the hell do I do now?
>>
Best onion sites for $uying things
>>
>>51922437
It definitely still uses flash. The controls are HTML5, but the player itself still uses flash.
>>
>>51922404
No, most modern high end CPUs wont be bottlenecked by games.
If you want better perfomance, spend it on a good GPU since that will determinate how well your games will run.

Its good to have a really good unlocked CPU so you wont have to upgrade in years (See I5-2500K, years and still kicking good) so if you want to get one, get it.
But talking about CPU power the difference in games is from minimum to nothing.

Unless you are getting a cheap I5 (i5-4460) instead a good one (I5-4690k/4790K/1151-2011-V3 socket CPUs), there you will notice a huge difference.

Most people get a stronger CPU so it wont bottleneck their videocards.

So I didn't want to feel like a retard and make a thread begging people, so h-here I go!
I am building my first computer for games (dat disposable income), I mainly play LoL, ARMA 3, Space Engineers, Paradox games, the new SQUAD game and some others. So not really graphically demanding but does need a good processor. I'm also waiting for Pascal.
This is my build so far (using Falcon guide and some help).
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WMd7t6

CPU : Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H5 Universal 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M7 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive x2
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
GPU: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Blackout with Window ATX Mid Tower Case (no idea about the cases, used the wiki)
PSU: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Moniter: Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor
Mouse: Corsair Raptor M45 Wired Optical Mouse

The only thing I don't know how to choose is case fans, if I should spend a little money on an Audio card, if I need thermal paste, and if I can get a cheap cool little fan controller that would be neat.
Thanks!

What im trying to say, most recent games wont use the CPU 100%, GPU is way more important.

But if you want to get a I7-5930K get one, is really good and will last you years.
I just dont see why spend atleast $1200 on a computer that will be used only for games, also + the price of a good GPU which would leave it around $1700~1900.

Already done. Just the CPU driver missing
>>
>>51923174
I have a couple of thoughts regarding that build:

Firstly, CPU cooler. I've both had, and seen, problems due to the CM Hyper 212 (and derivative) coolers. The issue is in backplate and loading on the motherboard. Over several years, the torque of the cooler causes indentation at the top of the back-plate, and the base of the loading screws. In the worst case I saw, this had broken through the board lacquer and caused a short. If you can budget it, I'd seriously consider getting a prebuilt water cooling loop with a 240mm rad or greater. They're fairly reliable now, and avoid the loading issues.

My other point is just for considerations: A 650W PSU doesn't give you much overhead for overclocking with upgrades. It's impossible to predict the future, but GPUs do seem to be trending upwards in power usage. It might be smarter to get a ~750W, especially due to the small additional cost.

>>51923188
Won't help much, assuming the room is of a typical size, over any prolonged time it probably reaches equilibrium. Moving it to the floor might help a little bit, but then you have dust issues and poor ventilation. Just open a window.
>>
>>51923174

I don't know about those series but there are much better PSUs at that price range, try to go for a xfx, antec or seasonic.

Check your wattage needs on extreme outervision calculator but you should be fine with any 650w PSU if you don't plan to SLI.

If you're unsure about a PSU check its review on jonnyguru, he's kinda biased towards seasonic, but that's for a reason.

As the guy who mentioned the CM212 issue, I haven't seen it to the same extent on other air coolers. The other thing that you might be able to do, is to mount the rearmost CPU fan to both the case and the cooler, supporting it on the case.

The Corsair (and pretty much all other closed loop water coolers with similar or greater rads) outperform the noctuas now, so if you're going for OCing there's a material benefit.

How difficult is it re-do all the cables in the average gaming pc? I had a friend help me build my first rig, and he did all the cable work for it. I had to return a defective power supply, and the shop offered to install the new one free of charge.

Its absolutely atrocious in there. They didn't route any cables behind the management holes in the case, and a lot of stuff is tangled into bunches. The CPU power cables even being stretched taught. Like actual tension on it.

So I'm having some weird issues with my internet connection speeds at the moment. In general it's slow as fuck but when I speedtest (on wireless) it starts off at 10mbps (paying for 100) then drops to 5 like half a second after then continues to decrease. Similar thing happens when I try it with wired (starts at 20 then drops.) It's not happening to any other devices that connect to the extender currently and I haven't had any issues with it previously.

List of shit I've tried:
>Restarting the extender, my laptop and the main access point.
>Run these
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog
nbtstat -r
nbtstat -RR
ipconfig /flushdns
>Tested on multiple devices
>Tried changing wireless channels
>Run AV scan
>Killed services/processes that could have been using bandwidth (win update, steam etc)
Nothing that I know of has changed prior to the problem starting

Why is my 24-port switch slower than my router? They're both rated @ ~100Mbps max, or so.
However, I have shitty internet here (~10Mbps), so, the rating doesn't matter anyways, right?
The only reason we even have a switch is because when we had our house built, we had ethernet ports wired in nearly every room, and it seemed...cumbersome, to just have a 24-port router. Those are ridiculously expensive iirc. So I bought a switch and plugged everything in downstairs. I didn't really notice the "slowness".
About a month ago, our internet died (it was the ISP's fault) and my family thought it may have been the switch, since there was no reply from our ISP; they plugged in a router and attached four important ethernet cables from around the house into the router. Apparently, there was a very noticeable difference in speed.
When I came home for fall break, I attached everything back to the switch, and everything was working fine. However, my brother said that it "got shitty again"; for example, he could normally watch videos on YouTube in 720/1080p nearly fine, but now shit barely worked even at 144/240p.
I'm stumped, and google is barely helping. I'd like to put the switch to use, and if it's actually just defective or something, could anyone recommend a good price/performance 24-port switch?
Thanks in advance, whichever anons respond.

x++ passes x as it is to the function, and increases it either before it runs the function or after it returns, it's up to the compiler what to do.
++x immediately increases x

it's up to the compiler to reorder the statements in the arguments however it likes.

Unspecified behaviour

It's okay to do so, but don't pass change the value more than one time in the arguments.

Both
printf("%d\n", x++);
printf("%d\n", ++x);

are fine.

But
printf("%d %d %d %d\n",x,x++,x,++x,x++);

Is not. The only guarantee you have is that after after all the arguments are evaluated and printf is invoked, that x will be 3 more, but the values passed to printf can be anything in the range [x, x+3]

Hey bait, how are you?

I doubt the driver will do that granted I'm no expert. Try to test if you have a spare cable. But if I'm gonna guess, it's your monitor.

it would help if you told us what kind of card you are talking about...

most switches splits the speed into the number of connected computers. so if you have 4 computers using the internet at the same time, you get 10/4=2,5 Mbits for each user.
a router will manage the traffic so one user can use more than the others.

it's only dangerous to have it rooted if you leave the programs you used on after rooting so other people can connect to your phone.

290 if you can find one, it's faster than 380.
what do you mean "used like shit"? it's not like a car that you can drive like an idiot and break.... maybe ask if they OC and if they did for a long time maybe you can get a few bux off.

it's fucking retarded buying two 1TB HDDs when the prices on 2TB drives are almost the same.

what?

>>51928112
yes, download old version from some site. also turn off auto-update if you want to prevent that from happening again.

>>51928815
yes. might wanna consider 390x as it's cheaper and about the same performance.

my card is dying and the newer nvidia drivers cause my drivers to crash and make the screen go black for a second then i get a message in the tray about it.

I can't get past next menu after install because it says there's no device drivers.

I tried to plug in my old hdd right now, obviously windows wouldn't start, nor repair. So I tried fix install from boot disc, but it said the same thing, no drivers yadda yadda. But this time it seen my C: and D: partitions, but I couldn't pick them.
