>192 vbr opus sounds exactly like a flac
Is this a meme or does someone have proof that this is true? I did an ABX test and they both sound the same to me. Can anyone with a really really good pair of headphones confirm?
Most people's systems are coloured as fuck so who gives a shit? For real sound quality you go for good recordings/masterings instead.
It's not a meme. There are literally 0 confirmed ABX test results proving someone can tell a 192 vbr opus file from a flac. Opus is just that good. Though audible transparency can be reached as low as 128 vbr for most people.

You will never find a reputable test where somebody has been able to determine 320 from FLAC, audiophiles won't even try as it just makes them look dumb after spending thousands.

What about Opus?

meh, still not as bad as flac

I don't know, but it's unlikely the psychoacoustic model doesn't fail under some samples.
In any case, making saying "You will never find a reputable test where somebody has been able to determine 320 from FLAC" is incorrect.
On the other hand, V0 or 320kbps mp3 (V0 is better for quality as some samples can go above 320kbps when needed, drawing bits from the bit reservoir) are perfectly transparrent for 99.5% of audio out there. That's good enough for me.

I just like for claims to be accurate. Your original claim was not.

Not a meme. Drop it down to 128kbps and do an ABX. There still might not be an audible difference.

This so fucking much.
Opus 128kbps vbr is the perfect spot for quality/filesize ratio.

>q4 Vorbis on smartphone
What else would I need? True master race.

Nice meme.

I might as well become an audiophile after listening to this.
not a meme. I personally use 128 opus for my phone though.
