No Google cardboard thread? Thinking about trying out 3d movies on it. Never used VR at all before today. I'm wondering
>any easy ways to improve the cheap cardboard experience?
>any good games?
>Good working vr theater app?
I'm so excited for vr shit

porn. Start up clover and find a 3d thread and click on an image. Most of the times it works.
>>>Good working vr theater app?
AAA VR cinema. it's great for porn. The best part is you can sit on your back and watch porn
The day I ordered my star wars cardboard, I also found a dead pixel on my nexus 5X. Fuck me. But I want to get a strap and hook it up to my pc for some vr elite dangerous
>>51907736
i got one of those after F5'ing like crazy.
don't even like star wars.
but don't have gapps installed on my phone either, will probably give it away.
and no, didn't order one when they were giving them at launch, so never tried it.
What's a good one for a 5.5 inch phone, I wanna fly.
I ordered 3 free ones and never got any.

wasn't cardboard VR a joke to take a jab at Samsung's gearVR for being overpriced hunk of plastic.
>>51908469
I thought it was a desperate attempt by Google to get an early hold on the VR market share before Gear VR and other headsets could because they were late to the game.
The app is called VR Remote Desktop

Fucking thanks
>>51907736
I've tried several HMD's for smartphones, the one I like best by far is the one called "BoboVR" from Xiaozhai.

Also i've been using the app called "TrinusVR" for streaming almost any kind of screen from my battlestation to my OPO.
>>51908827
Wow thanks, that looks great since wearing my glasses with the cardboard is fucking destroying my eyes
>>51908953
Works fine with glasses, as long as they aren't too big. Don't have glasses myself but my GF and a friend of mine who tried them do.

I bought a Samsung Gear VR a week ago. It's pretty amazing,I've never played with VR before. You insert your (SGS6 / SGS6+ / Note5) phone into it....and that's it. The phone will download the Oculus software once it detects the Gear VR.
It's a natural for 2D / 3D and 360 images.
Now I have to get a gamepad for my phone.
>>51909041
You saw those 3D OTOY stills in the Oculus photos app right? What did you think of it?
>>51909017
I meant that adjustable lenses means I wouldn't have to wear them
>>51909086
Well, the lenses are adjustable in distance for small differences in eye strain. If you have more than -1,5 or something on your glasses I think you will have to use your glasses.

>vr theater app
>Cineveo
+just werks
+screentap centers VR field
+can change files while wearing headset
+no adverts
-not convenient to seek
-no advanced options
>VRTV Video Player
+Extremely configurable
+Well-thought-out cardboard interface while watching
+Works with $5 bluetooth controllers
*May take some tweaking to get it perfect
-Can't handle ASS subtitles, need to use SRT
-Has adverts when leaving videos unless you buy it
-Can't change videos while wearing headset unless you buy it
Both are good enough for porn, but if you want to actually watch films/tv/anime (especially in cases where you need to read subtitles), the latter is far more convenient.
Also as far as headsets go, I'm using a homido. Probably as comfy as it gets without buying an actual rift/whatever.
No positional tracking. Looking at panorama photos through a piece of cardboard != vr.
Oculus or vice our go home. No, gear doesn't count.
>>51908469
>Overpriced hunk of plastic
That's samsung's entire business model
>>51909744
just put lucky patcher on your phone and patch out ads
>>51909964
the ads don't really bother me and take all of half a second to click past, the main problem is not being able to switch videos while wearing the headset, meaning i'd need to take my phone out of it after every episode
>>51907736
My phone doesn't even have a gyroscope but I still got a Kylo Ren headset
>>51909803
Nobody is going to use this shit doing anything but sitting down. It's a useless feature
>>51907736
> Thinking about trying out 3d movies on it
It's gonna be shit. It was on 720p screen, 3D passive glasses are much better. Don't bother with it till oculus/vive arrive.
>>51912958
Well the thing is my phone is a Droid turbo. I'm fairly sure it has a higher resolution and higher dpi screen than the rift/vive
>>51913603
rift/vive have better optics, better API, FAR comfier fit
yeah, you can stick your 2560x1440 phone in a cardboard but half that resolution will be wasted by shit lenses, distance to screen and bad calibration
also it's a pain to interact with VR apps on android, and your phone's hardware needs to be up to the task if you're interested in 3D
My gs 4 has an issue with calibration where it very slowly drifts to the right. I'm unaware of tools to fix this, any advice?
>>51913936
most have some degree of drift. I don't think there's a solution besides re-orienting screen via tap or an app having an option to counter drift
Started looking into this cardboard VR shit and seems pretty good. What would you say is the best headset out there?
