Who's still rocking a Phenom II in this mofo
>>51905759
Yo!
I run it in a heavily throttled (500mhz 0.825v) state though. Keeps heat and power draw down, as this rig idles 99% of the time.
>>51905933
Why...
>>51905950
because this computer is a mix of a net browsing machine and personal file server. Dont need much more than that.
Theres also the fact that my OEM Intel LGA 775 board does not have Gig-E, and my pentium M board, while it does have gig-e, uses single channel DDR, and its ultimately slower than my Phenom II in all aspects, even if I did re-pin mod it and clocked it back to 2.7ghz.
Believe me, if I had a viable alternative, I would have taken it by now.
Use it as a heater in extra bedroom.

Built this machine with a Phenom II 980 in 2011, with the knowledge that AMD's consistent use of the AM3 socket would leave me in good stead for upgrades.
Today they have yet to release a CPU with significantly improved single-threaded performance.
I have an Athlon X4 750K
not quite a Phenom but theres still some shame is using an AMD cpu in 2015
Glad to see I'm not the only one still running this thing (with exception of someone else I built a computer for). Best AMD CPU by far, shame they went to shit after this.

>core voltage 2.22
Phenom stronk.
[spoiler]Zen fucking when?[/I know]
Probably the greatest processor AMD has made to date.
I love those Hex Cores
only thing that'll make me buy a new CPU is more SSE support.
I've been tempted to upgrade to Haswell or Skylake, but then I remember ZEN FUCKING WHEN?
>all the windows retards in my /g/
Good enough, will need new cooling though
>>51908282
Wasn't it a big letdown?
I was up until a month ago. My new CPU is much cooler and I'm not looking forward to winter.
>>51905759
965 here famicom.
Still runs games like GTAV pretty well. Gonna get a Zen chip next year. I'll grab whatever the cheap value SKU is.
955 holding out until Zen.

Why so Intel averse?
>>51909300
muh monopolies
unlocked athlon x3 435
Phenom ii 960t black edition here
Actually unlockable to an x6 1055t or some shit
But its gone on 10 days
>>51909230
>my operating system makes me smart than you
hello reddit
>>51905759
Reporting. Overclocked to 3.4GHz and with the fourth core unlocked.
AMD X2 6 1055t black edition, over clocked to 3.6ghz with an aftermarket cooler. Temps are 25-35 during gaming and ~20 when idle.
Who needs a Phenom?
>>51909802
Used an Athlon x4 620 from about 2009 to last year until I built a 4670k computer. That Athlon was fucking amazing value and really held up.
Athlon II x4 master race bitches
I love this little thing, it's a real workhorse.
I lost the silicon lottery hard though, it can't OC at all, which is ridiculous for a chip known for it's OC capability.
>>51905759
I gave my PIIX4 965 computer to my mom.
I recently upgraded from my X6 1090T stable 4GHz to a 4790k. It was a good 5 years. Never had any problems with it, but it was time for an upgrade. I hope this chip will last me 5years ad well, but I highly doubt it.
>>51907532
>>51908424
Muh niggas
>>51910670
A 4790K will last you through this generation of consoles at the very least if gay men is your thing. Those tablet APUs aren't getting any more powerful.
>>51910745
Glad to hear
I paired it with memecard 970 at 1550MHz
Aside from the 3.5 scam its a great card, have no problem maxing 1080 3A titles.
Currently playing warhammer end times vermintide. Great coop game but demanding as fuck, 4790k 4.8GHz almost running at full load while playing.

>supporting le jew
Also NSA backdoor in Intel chips.
>>51910880
>NSA backdoor in Intel chips
I hope they like my porn choices
Been repping the same setup since 2010, except for GPU.
Runs everything I want. it'll probably last another 2-3 years as is.

* Noctua D14 master race
>>51910693
Holy shit that CPU bottleneck.
Are you even getting stable framerates?
Rare Phenom II reporting in.
>>51910989
cpu isent a bottleneck, at 4360x1440 the gpu is the closest thing to a bottleneck, although runs great with 3.5GB
>>51910993
rare unlocked tri core?
>>51911024
It's a normal 4 core CPU.
No problems here.
I was using this up until a few days ago, starting from 2010. I jumped to a cheap 4770, and for the first time in my life, Firefox can actually handle the amount of tabs I throw at it
Yeah, built back in 2010,still running strong .
Phenom owner checking in
