>Hi folks,
>I have been using qBittorrent since build 2.x and have really wanted this product to succeed however I fear the time has come to say goodbye.

>To many I/O errors and stalled torrents.

>I love the program when it works - but it seems to have worked less and less with each build.

https://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php/topic,4046.0.html

This is just one thread of several in the qBittorrent forums and github comments where people are losing faith in qBittorrent.

Is it time for /g/ to admit this client was a meme and move on to better clients?
>>
>>51904116
I don't really care what torrent client anybody uses, whatever makes them happy.

I'm content with u2.2.1
>>
Op we both know that you made those threads, shut the fuck up
>>

>i/o errors
Check your fucking sata connectors maybe and stop deleting files in active torrents
>stalled torrents
Qbt's fault how that you're trying to download dead torrents?

0/10 shit thread
>>
The fact that qbittorrent is over 20mb while utorrent 2.04 is around 700 kb speaks volumes in my imo. Security is a non-issue if you torrent from reputable sites.
>>
>>51904143
What's funny is that the thread OP linked was just posted and got a legitimate response.

I don't even use qbt, but what a shit thread.
>>
>>51904143

My qbittorrent works but it looks worse than ever. The font rendering has turned to complete shit with the latest release and the maintainer absolutely refuses to support qss because he's a vapid cumstain.

What about the 3.3 stalled my torrents thread?

If you don't use private trackers or care about UI this is an acceptable answer.

You're right I have not, but this is what the end-user notices senpai and it just gives me a sense of bloat which is hard to swallow.

You only have to take a look at their code base to realise it's a meme. It's a miracle that it even works at all.
>>
>>51904850
The official qBittorrent forum mentions stalling quite often. Have you even looked at it?
>>
>>51904850
This. Never got any IO errors, either, probably due to my being on a real OS and not some Fisher-Price shit like Windows.

Transmission is about to drop the official windows port this month.
>>
>>51905046
Even funnier thing is I never got any I/O errors on windows either. This whole thread smells like OP projecting his PEBKAC friends toward everyone.
>>
>>51905596
Thank fuck
>>
>>51904116
I get I/O errors all the time... when my harddrive is full. qbt does some caching thing where a torrent can take ~50% more space than the torrent claims, so a 10GB torrent needs 15GB.

As for stalling...
Options -> Advanced -> Always Announce to All Trackers -> Checked

Also
Options -> Connection -> Connection Limits -> Global Maximum Number of Connections -> Make the number bigger (I have 500)
Options -> Connection -> Connection Limits -> Maximum Number of Connections Per Torrent -> Make the number bigger (I have 150)

Stop being dumb. Oh and maybe check system sleep inhibit.
>>

I'm literally only waiting for this to drop qBit

No meme, it's just one person creating this thread every single day.

Literally.
>>

>If you don't like the latest version feel free to use our old decrepit bug ridden alpha.

>>
I never believed the stalled meme until I updated to the 3.3.x series from the 3.2.x series. I loaded up a torrent in Qbittorrent that would download for about 30 seconds and then stall. I then loaded the exact same torrent up in Transmission and it downloaded perfectly fine.

I get IO errors whenever Windows shits the bed, or my external drive gets disconnected for random reasons
Sometimes I get IO errors thanks to NTFS mangling my shit, or the Windows API making files inaccessible due to the 255 character limit
>>51906546
Back in the 2.0 days the Windows port was nearly unusable, it wasn't usable until 2.9.x, so it held some sense back then
>>51908386
>Most notably for /g/, bakabt.
Last time I updated it took BakaBT around a month to whitelist, the pretty close 3.2.4-3.3.0 releases are the reason we get this fucking threads daily, a single guy and another two guys who are too retarded to understand whitelisting
>>
>>51908521
>or the Windows API making files inaccessible due to the 255 character limit
or, here's a fun one
>NTFS, per spec, supports several characters in file and directory names that the Windows userland does not
You can have files and folders on an NTFS partition shared between operating systems that work fine in Linux but shit the bed in Windows, appearing in Explorer but being completely inaccessible with no recourse.

In my experience the qBittorrent clients stops showing active torrents, won't sort by downloading/uploading, etc and I have to rely on the WebUI to see what is seeding and downloading. Also sometimes it stops torrents that have been seeding, against my wishes. Apparently it has problems once you are seeding >1200 torrents or so and I am currently at 1600.

Only time I had I/O errors on windows was when some folders in one of the touhou music collections went past the windows path limit.

Only time I had stalling was dead trackers being at the top of the list before the always announce to all trackers option was a thing, or when I added a torrent that didn't actually have any peers, but that's not exactly qbittorrent's fault.

I switched to qBittorrent a couple versions and I couldn't be happier.

When I launch the program it fully saturates my bandwidth within seconds (assuming the torrent is well seeded).
In µTorrent I would always have to wait, sometimes up to over a minute, before I even saw any up/down at all.
I've also never experienced the stalled meme or any I/O errors.

qBittorrent is simply based.

you obviously chose to start the download immediately after adding. why? you should've added the torrent, deselected the files you don't need and then started it.

if you disable them after downloading started, they should get moved to an .unwanted folder though.

also check if you have pre-allocation enabled, that might change the behavior.

I used qBittorrent for a long time and used it because it was the FOSS client on Windows that sucked the least amount of dick. I switched over to running Transmission as a service with Transmission Remote GUI but tried a magnet link in qBittorrent to see how 3.3.1 was. It stalled. I put the same magnet link into Transmission and it downloaded just fine.

I'm serious here, I liked qBittorrent when it worked, but it just doesn't work right for me anymore. All I've done is update to the newer versions, I haven't changed anything else.
