The only reason Netflix, Spotify and DRM-Free music on iTunes exists is to win back pirates.
Piracy keeps corporate greed in check. If they make it so you have to sign into your ebook to read it or that you can't give a copy of your favorite album to your friend, people will just pirate it so the company doesn't pull shit like that.

This. I subscribe to netflix, amazon, hulu, and some other places. But if they don't have the show/movie I want to watch I'll pirate it. I don't see how all these companies expect people to subscribe to 10 different networks just to watch all of their favorite shows / films
