Will this preapplied thermal past work?
>>51900826
About as well as the stock cooler. It'll work, but not be anything great.
>>51900826
yes
>>51900891
Yeah, I know preapplied isn't the greatest, I just wanted my cpu to not fry lol
>>51900826
Black 4
are you fucking retarded?
NO! my mom had me tested.
yeee it will work but a stock cooler is not an good long tern use of an pc. just sayin
>>51902197
Yeah, I just bought all my pc parts and my pockets are empty. I'm planning on buying a gtx960 and an aftermarket cooler next month.
>>51902197
a stock cooler is a great long term solution, especially if you're not gaming or running an overclocked chip.
Stock coolers are designed to get your CPU sufficiently running at factory spec. People get aftermarket coolers (and paste) for overclocking capability and to reduce noise.
So yes, it will work. It's designed to work.
>>51902321
This.
The meme needs to die, a stock cooler is plenty.
I had my i7 860 overclocked to 3.4ghz on the stock cooler too and it was barely touching 90 degrees. At stock it was low 80s.
For anyone not overclocking, stock cooler is more than enough.
>>51900910
>I just wanted my cpu to not fry lol
What makes you think it would ?
Stock coolers with preapplied thermal paste come bundled with CPUs because they're made to be able to keep said CPUs cool enough within design specifications.
It doesn't perform nearly as well or as quietly as an aftermarket cooler, but it's not like they bundle useless slabs of metal with CPUs.
>>51904265
>it was barely touching 90 degrees. At stock it was low 80s.
that's absolutely not a good thing...
>>51904265
>at stock is was low 80s
That already is outside of specification.
>>51904450
Guy may be speaking °F here instead of using SI, dunno
>>51904458
I sure hope he is because if not that CPU is brown bread
i5 6500, stock cooler, runs at 45c max if I stress it for hours at loads it never even hits during big compiles or heavy games.
>>51904458y amd A-10 sometimes gets up to 90 C on my laptop when encoding h.264
>>51904490
My*
>>51900826
>year of our lord 2016 - 1
>doesn't use thermal future
baka desu senpai
Lick it to activate it you idiot
>>51904394
It's fine up till 105 degrees last I checked.
>>51904450
>>51904484
It's still running fine. Currently peaks at 84 degrees with an even bigger oc
>>51904265
>80s at stock
how has your pc not shutdown?
>>51900826
>Intel Heatsink
>>51904265
My supplied heatsink for the 2500k was hitting 102c in IntelBurnTest.
Thinking that mounting/paste was the issue, I scraped off the pre-applied shit after my PK2 came in and I was still hitting 92c.
Fuck that shit, nigga. Very decent aftermarkets at $20 will save you headaches after that dust starts to accumulate (which I assume will, if you're keeping the stock heatsink as someone who doesn't know PC stuff would)
>>51900826
Are you a fucking teenager or actually retarded? "Yeah, let's put thermal paste in coolers that doesn't work well and will kill your cpu"
-Nobody
>>51900826
stock paste and coolers are completely fine unless doing heavy overclocking. If you arent planning to overclock it is not worth changing the paste.
>>51902219
Yup, you are retarded. No explanation needed. Or a teenager, which is why 4chan has gone to shit in the past 8 years
No, it won't, they put it on there specifically to ruin peoples computers.
What the fuck do you think?
Only get aftermarket cooling for the following reasons
1) If you're overclocking
2) Stock cooler is too loud
As for thermal paste, a two or three difference in temperate doesn't mean shit unless you're doing some ridiculous overclocking. Just get whatever thermal paste, it does not fucking matter.
Stock coolers are perfectly fine. Don't buy into marketing and what retards on /g/ tell you.
>>51907401
>>51902321
I ran a stock cooler since my first build and I was never satisfied with the temps until I started using aftermarket. Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo gets the job done if you're strapped for cash.
>>51906688
>>51904355
I sure as hell hope you're talking Fahrenheit and not Celsius. Amerifag here and I hate imperial.
>>51907387
Actually they don't work well for a fair handful of the higher end chips.
>>51907402
Yup.
>>51907525
>im not getting my ideal temps
>my cpu is working as intended
Two different statements. Read OP, asked if it was fine. Yes, its fine.
>>51907556
>Two different statements
I know.
CENTIGRADE
>>51900826
Yes. I wouldn't bother replacing it on a stock cooler. Of you're buying a higher end after market cooler than its good to spend a little bit on better paste.
>>51907470
You mean metric you fucking troglodyte
>>51907840
Imperial is crap like inches, pounds, and fahrenheit you tool.
>>51907633
You now realise Americans are the only retards who use Fahrenheit, because they don't want any similarities between them and the British. Which is why many individuals started writing with their left hands in America. Because they hate the British.
Talk about butthurt faggotry.
105 Celsius you cunts
>>51907943
As much as I hate the imperial system, Fahrenheit is the only thing in it that is more accurate than its metric counterpart (Celsius). There is more separation in temperatures and thus its practical accuracy is greater.
>>51904265
It depends. My stock cooler goes upto 93C. It's not bad for the CPU, but it's still pretty high. It idles at around 45C.
High temperatures over time may be detrimental to the hardware. Not a guarantee that it'll fail, but it's preferable to have lower temperatures.
>>51907320
intel master race
>i7 920 ran at 105°c for a few months
She deserved better. Running a 212 memevo now, idles around 40°c
>>51908228
A lot of people here upgrade every 2-3 years.
>>51908544
I'd wager that most people don't upgrade their CPU every 2-3 years. Most of the people I've come to know upgrade their graphics cards on a 2 year cycle, but usually keep their CPU/motherboard for 3-5 years on average.
But, it doesn't take that long anyways. Having your CPU at, lets say 110C for more than a handful of months and it'll fry out. Even at 100C+ you're not entirely safe.
>>51908636
To be more technically correct because this board is filled with autists, the solder will melt.
>>51908665
>>51908636
Well mine has been running at high 80s/low 90s for a few years now when it's under load and it's still running perfectly fine.
Idles at ~45 degrees.
Autists like >>51907470 >>51907320 >>51904450 will disagree, but as long as its below the thermal threshold it's fine.
