FLAC didn't fail. Most websites that aren't iTunes or Google Play sell their music in FLAC if you want it. Paying money for music in a lossy format for the same price as a CD is pretty stupid.
>>
>>51901185
Lossless audio storage is autism except for music studios.

Most people aren't scientists or music producers. And even then you would use uncompressed WAV not FLAC. Fuck FLAC.

>Download FLAC
>Can convert it to any lossy or lossless format you want be it MP3 V0 or opus 96kbps, for any use purposes
>Can write it to CD without quality loss

>Download MP3 or other lossy format
>Can't convert it to any other formats without losing quality
>Can't burn it to a CD without it sounding like shit

The only other option for those use cases are using WAV which usually comes out as like twice as big as a FLAC with no tagging or other features.
>>
>>51901358
Not him but flac takes longer to load than wav.
>>
>>
>>51901366
WAV is 1.4 Mbps you piece of shit. FLAC only reduces the bitrate to 1-1.2 Mbps which is fucking nothing.

* Pre-load the track a second before previous one ends. (sequential playback)
* Save first two seconds raw, then load while playing those. (previews)
* Save every x seconds, and limit your skipping to those times. (fast seeking)
* Cache only the most-accessed tracks. (if all else fails)
Depending on your use case, there are plenty of options.

>using CBR with lossy formats

Oh so you don't know anything. Got it
>>
>>51901412
He's unfortunately right. Not all music can be compressed to under 1mbps with flac.
>>
>>51901457
It's actually very noticeable when you need to load multiple tracks. It's even more of a pain in the ass because in the end you have to encode the piece of shit to a new 6-10 track FLAC for music production.

Either stick to wav or opus.

.js isn't a format, it's just an extension put on plaintext files with js code.
>>
>>51901543
You could say the same for XML.
>>
>>51901069
Let's be honest here, flac was always a meme. I used it for like a month and then switched to opus for good.
>>
>>51901069
this, keep it on .wave and go aways, you will not save a lot of space
