i did create a new "profile" or reset settings. i turned off addons so they don't interfere. i did make it break on a fresh profile but it's under certain settings. it should be easy to reproduce. it's probably not hardware or network connectivity.

That's not true. 4chan X makes keyboard browsing way more efficient.
i was about to download the newest version of firefox portable to prove that it doesn't work in newer versions either. but it's still a pain. you have to close your main firefox because multiple instances of it can't run at the same time outside of profiles.
an advantage of chromium is that -- if you wait for the 1st instance to fully load -- you can open up multiple profiles. but chromium is a resource hog. with my mere 2 core cpu: chromium sometimes messes up and cripples my computer to the point where i have to restart to fix everything.
but, also, again: chromium can open up a bunch of different instances of different versions at the same time. i'm actually planning on and successfully tested something like that. where you use different folders and instances of chromium portable as pseudo-profiles. they're older versions. because old versions are a lower file size. and because -- instead of each pseudo-profile taking up like 100 MB -- it'll take up less than 30 MB. or something.
i also use chromium version 40.0.2192.0. you know why? it "just werks". i have a weird computer setup where i do tasks with things that require a lot of pixel space on the right side and things that require little pixel space on the left side; while sometimes maximizing it while working on it. i use a program called "sizer" to see the sizes of windows; so i can get precise window sizes. small windows on the left side are ideally "342x384". my version of chromium goes to "347x384" at minimum. because later versions don't give the metadata for sizer to display the window at all or the minimum size is too large.
tl;dr it "just werks"

in all likely hood i may just start using portable versions of chromium entirely and start running those instead. instead of firefox being a wannabe chromium instead of the firefox i knew and loved. 'course chromium has its own problems like jewgle, accidentally clicking x and closing like 100 tabs you were working on, can't get add-ons outside of their jewgle "store" and a lot of them are "outdated" for the browser you're running anyway, etc..
that's something i liked about web browsers in all honesty or "desu". they were relatively small and useful programs that had the basic job of "run html4" and "run xhtml".

when jewgle chromium was like "we're dropping flash" and shit: 1st of all i had to start using the last versions of chromium and chromium portable that supported flash. 2nd of all i was surprised that chromium wanted to make their browser more efficient to the point of throwing those things away and really pushing for html5. and what do they do? add more useless drm "web-based" shit instead of the small efficient browser it originally was. -- making old chromium and old firefox superior.
so basically it was better as it was before when they were small efficient browsers designed for running html and not have all this add-on bullshit that slows them down and increases their size. you can say "use a custom version" or something but then those usually work with no addons. making them useless. i like the optional addons. but i don't like the non-optional addons. or web-based "services" etc.. i liked it when programs independently ran on your computer as goods as opposed to dependently ran on somebody elses computer as "services". i know it's the internet and basically everything is like that. but we generally did that because we had to. and avoided running useless unnecessary things or "bloat" on other people's computers. the way it should be.
tl;dr i may "upgrade" to some point if i'm forced to. but until then it "just werks".

>Do you have "Mark Quotes of You" turned off by any chance? If so, this is expected behavior now. There should probably be separate options for tracking posts made by you and marking the quotes, but that doesn't exist yet.

i figured it out. i know what i have to do
i didn't check "remember your posts". -- i must've thought that unchecking "remember your posts" would "remove anything i didn't like about addons" and make it look more so-called "vanilla". i didn't realize that it apparently also doesn't mark the post count as [+] "(1)" when you post, too. -- so only unchecking "mark quotes of you", "highlight posts quoting you", "highlight own posts" needs to be unchecked for what is wanted. -- i've tested this an confirmed this. -- so it was probably "broken" because i had the settings wrong from the start. so i don't know what ccd0 or anyone fixed exactly. but i guess it was looked at or something. -- it might've always worked. but it did break after the update. so something must've changed there. so it's also possible that that new setting was added that i didn't take into account. -- so it works now, i guess...
