Hey /g/ have any of you guys successfully installed a after Market cooler on your gpu? Was it difficult? Also is there a after cooler for the gtx 980 ti? Do you think a water cooled gpu will make a difference in temps ?

Also interested in this. I just ordered the Sapphire 290x Tri-X and I heard that it's really loud. Might want to change out the fans.

You can if you want if the noise is that much of a problem. Also read sapphires have some bad cooling Idk I might be wrong about that.

Sure have. Wasn't difficult at all beyond my own retardation. It drops temps by 20c at stock clocks and let me push an eye-watering overclock.

As for water and gpus - either go full block or go home - hybrid cooling is pointless as you still need to air cool the vrms and they need just as much cooling as the gpu core itself (and on certain gpus even more!).

The tri-x cooler is one of the better 290x models but its not built to handle insane levels of voltage. Still far, far better than 99% of other offerings - only the lightning, vapoir-x and PCS+ compete/best it.

Woops I should clarify - thats 20c drop coming from a tri-x cooler. From a reference 290x thats a 40c drop!

I also have it anon, I know your feels

Do people seriously do this? I have an xfx r9 390 dd and it idles at 25-30 degrees and no more than 70 under extreme load...

I bet it doesn't run at 70c at this core clock.
>>
>>51896400

why overclock it offers <5 fps performance gains in the best case scenario
>>
>>51894318
Pugs are trash
>>
>>51896510

It gives me a 15fps boost in witcher 3 at 1080p. Testing at 3200x1800 (as I want a 4k freesync screen and this is as close as I can get) it gives me even more of an increase over stock.

For some other games I can drive neearly 60fps, but realistically in the latest titles i'm looking at 30-50 (perfect for freesync).

I liked the look on this one's face though

Then what cooler would one suggest for a 980ti
>>
>>51899285

Any of the coolers that the likes of EVGA, msi, gigabyte etc etc make are good enough. If you have a reference model just slap a fucking raijintek morpheus on it.
>>
>>51899397
According to the product description it doesn't support the 980ti.
>>
>>51899460
The farthest it goes is to the 780ti so I'm assuming it won't work or unless I'm uninformed, and it actually can work for the 980ti
>>
>>51899537

Some dude has done it, but if you want something thats officially supported how about this?

Interesting also thanks man I had that in my radar just wasn't sure it supported the 980ti
>>
>>51894318
Heard some were thst most titan x aftermarket coolers work.
>>
>>51901968

You mean all one of them?
>>
>>51902032

theres more than 1 titan x aftermarket cooler
>>
>>51902547

Most are waterblocks.
>>
>>51902625
True but I know there's a few out there that are compatible with a titan x
