You need to learn to adapt to new software meta when it comes to FOSS and the GNU/Linux ecosystem, rather than trying to be a luddite and hold onto old ways.

Nothing they've asked to accept so far has been ridiculous enough to not at least reluctantly accept, not Gnome3 or systemd.

You're just going to stress yourself more if you don't adapt.
>>
>>51900244
>So people can see the different UI elements
Most people aren't partially sighted, and even for those who are, tiny shadows don't help. It just looks fuck ugly.
>>
>>51900532
Yes it has actually, gnome3 is a retarded meme DE which sucks for normal desktop usage. Though you simply cannot stop the train of faggots shilling for it so even debian an OS that clearly should be using XFCE is using this retarded tablet interface.

Systemd would be fine if it was just another option but suddenly it took over mostly every L00nux distro with no trivial options to go back. As well as that shitty dev groups like GNOME are tying things in to systemd unnecessarily.
Going to debian again, they've been using a traditional init system which "just worked" forever now and suddenly we have this new system with no trivial option(in the installer) to choose anything else. Every distro just succumbed to RedHats shilling and tied themselves to the ship.

There are somethings I don't like about systemd(technologically) but mostly I don't like pottering and his shady/childish attitude when dealing with any individual or project who doesn't want to just jump on his bandwagon.

References: http://without-systemd.org/wiki/index.php/Arguments_against_systemd

The unix philosophy is a great one(standardized APIs with 1 tool to do 1 job well so they can easily be integrated with eachother and also be very modular) and it makes so much sense especially in the context of OSS where there are many choices it would be nice if people wouldn't be actively trying to sabotage it so you don't have to fight so hard to have things work without project Xs software.

Honestly I'd say this is likely a grab by RedHat to gain more control over the Linux ecosystem, which if I were thinking nicely would be for standardization reasons? But honestly standardized APIs are a much friendlier and more logical choice, instead of trying to bandwagon everyone into simply doing what you want them to do(stifling innovation imo).

tl;dr resistance is futile
>>
>>51900815
not trying to prove something, i just want to inform you that installing debian without systemd is easy.
>>
>>51900842
If it's not an option in the installer it is not "easy", retard.
>>
>>51900842
>https://wiki.debian.org/systemd#Installing_without_systemd

>hould one desire to install without systemd, i.e use sysvinit-core instead (old sysV5 init), it is possible to use preseed to replace systemd with sysvinit at the end of the install (This probably won't work if selecting one of the desktop environments that require systemd specific features however). If using a preseed file already, just make sure to set the preseed value

preseed/late_command="in-target apt-get install -y sysvinit-core"
If not using a preseed file, this can be added to the boot arguments instead by hitting TAB at the boot menu on the desired entry and appending the above preseed line at the end of the boot command.

There may still be a few bits of systemd installed, but at least init itself is not systemd and cleaning up any remaining pieces should not be too hard.

this is not "easy" - for an advanced user, sure, but how the fuck would my grandma figure that out? She has no first-hand experience with GRUB...

Then again, my grandma wouldn't give a fuck about SystemD in the first place, and would instead use a genuinely good OS like Windows or OS X anyway
