Would it work or be shit?
>>
>>51891478

Dunno why it wouldn't work. Personally, I'd probably use a dab of hot glue instead of a zip tie.
>>
It works.

I do this.

You can get a little clip that holds the mic in place.
>>
It would work just fine. But you should really just buy a cheap desk mic. It will sound better and be less of a hassle overall.
>>
>>51891504

Not OP, but I use a Logitech 910something-or-other webcam. The sound quality is excellent, BUT holy shit does it ever capture keystrokes. You can even hear the click of my XBox controller buttons when I'm using that. And when I Skype and type something, I can hear the unbelievably loud echo cutting in and out.
>>
>>51891478
this is already a thing and it's better than buying a shitty gaymen headset. just get a desk mic though
>>
>>51891538

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.
>>
i just use the zalman mic that clips on your headphone cable. it sounds fine, it's positioned more like a lav mic than a headset
>>
>>51891564

Well, do you want people to hear you talking or do you want CLATTER CLATTER CLICK CLATTER SMACK CLATTER BANG BANG BANG CLATTER SMACKCLACKCLACKCLICKTAPTAPTAPBANGBANG
>>
>>51891602
use a noise gate
>>
>>51891645

Good idea, then they'll just hear everything go silent when keys are being pressed, including anything I say.

Or better yet, I think I'll just get a clip-on microphone that only captures the sound of my voice.
>>
>>51891703
that isn't how a noise gate works

I said that to myself as I opened the link and played your clip.

You have a nice low volume voice, anon, it's very peaceful sounding.

that background noise
>>
>>51892003

seconded, that is awful
>>
>>51892003
>>51892005

Yep. I'm on a laptop atm and am using a thirty cent chink 3-pole Y-cable. Don't cheap out on the cable bois

7$ and works well enough

>>51891504

Please don't do this, it's annoying to listen to people with desk mics, especially if they have a mechanical keyboard.

For another $20 you can get this, which is a lot cleaner looking than that ghetto rigged setup.

heh....

Don't risk it op
>>
Both. It would work but it looks shit
>>
>>51891893
How do you wanna attach it otherwise?
>>
>>51891703

Damn kid, you really are retarded
>>
>>51891478
No, it won't work for many reasons:
- ATH MX30 are awful headphones
- they're closed
- your mic setup is shit
Get a superior Philips SHP 9500 (which is open and is much better for gaming) and Vmoda Boom Pro.

>Gaming
>>
>>51894373
Yeah gaming, thanks for pointing it out. Op wants a headset, which nowadays is mostly used for gaming.
>>
>>51894361
Is the difference between closed and open that massive? I had to get a set of closed cans cause i didnt want sound leaking out, Wife sleeping, And lotta of distracting noise during the day.
>>
>>51894420
>Is the difference between closed and open that massive?
Yes. Open headphones provide a more immersive and spatial experience, which makes music listening/movie watching/gaming much better.
> I had to get a set of closed cans cause i didnt want sound leaking out, Wife sleeping, And lotta of distracting noise during the day.
Only few open headphones leak as much as to cause disturb to people around you, but at any rate the people around you must be close to you. SHP 9500 doesn't leak like crazy.
>>
>>51894373
What are you going to do?

>Spend more then $5 on a skype mic
>Speak to your videos "yes sir, could you please forward to the animoo tities"
>>
>>51891478
Technically it would, but the M50x is shit for gaymen. I played a shitty MMO with my friends, and everything sounded like it came from inside my head. Gave me headaches and nausea.
>>
>>51894456
Got a DT 770, will probably get an 880 or 990 at some point in the near future just to have a set of both. There was also that headphone with positional accurary with hardly any bass that I keep forgetting the name.
>>
>>51894512
> There was also that headphone with positional accurary with hardly any bass that I keep forgetting the name.
Sennheiser HD 558/598? If you're willing to spend up to 300$, the best open all-around headphone you can get is the Philips Fidelio X2, because it's the only one having an impactful and detailed bass without sacrificing on soundstage and clarity.
>>
I use the V moda version of this and it works great
>>
>>51894512
>Got a DT 770, will probably get an 880 or 990
That's barely an upgrade though.

>There was also that headphone with positional accurary with hardly any bass that I keep forgetting the name.
ATH-AD700(X)?
>>
>>51894576
Ad700 that was it. Will also look into that Phillips one.
>>
>>51891478
Won't work.

You need an amplifier between the microphone and the headphones.

No idea why you want to listen to yourself speaking anyways.
>>
I tried something similar. Don't get a mic cable that's too long. It doesn't work well and you get a fuck load of interference
>>
Search up modmic, OP.

Don't do it, if you're wanting that clamp monster look at the m40x or m50x. The rest are not worth it.

Get a Takstar Pro80/Sony mdrv6/AKG K240 instead.

Who is going to care about listening to some fatfuck talking when gaming, autism recordings or frequent heavy breathing
>>
>>51894888
Funny thing is that my Zalman mic sounded almost as good as my Modmic. Zalman is cheap and good but improvising to position it near your mouth is very messy, while the Modmic is expensive but very convenient.

I tried connecting the Modmic to my onboard audio and dedicated sound card, and the sound card affects sound quality more than the mic itself, as far as unpowered desktop mics are concerned.

I use the M70x with Modmic and it works fine, and it looks like the same principle as your pic.
