As far as OS exploits go, every system has them. Due to OS X's Unix base, which includes a separation from user space and the root space, this stops a lot of malware from infecting the entire system. Any adware or trojans that exist for OS X can easily be rm -rf'd, so malware is not really an issue.
That all being said, you are still vulnerable to exploits that are crossplatform and can infect the entire system. This includes adobe flash, java, firefox, chrome, etc.
So the moral of the story is to always keep up to date with your updates, and use an adblocker.
