post some PDAs
Wait until I'm home, I have a palm zire 21 and a z22 with lots of stories
>>51886935
ok, will do
fuuuuuuuucking old ass shit
againnnnn
fuuuuuuuuuuck
I have this cool ass keyboard that's was originally for a palm device, and I'm attempting to get it working on my computer
>>51887603
That's cool as heck, I reckon it would be pretty easy to commission a Chinese factory to make a slightly smaller tablet compatible version.
>>51886861
Sometimes I really miss Palm. I had so many fun games and useful programs, most of them free, and no spyware or adware. Today's app stores are just sad and pitiful by comparison.
My first Palm was called a TRGpro. It was almost identical to a Palm III, but it had a "hump" on the back for a CF card. Unfortunately, this was before the OS itself fully took advantage of extra storage, so if wasn't very useful.

Make and model number?
>>51886861
>tfw I have an original Pilot 5000 but I can't figure out where the fuck I put it
;_;
I'm thinking of going full consumertard and just buying another one for $30 in the box off of ebay. PDAs in general are nifty as fuck and I find their applications better than shitty ad-laden phone apps.
>>51887603
I would pay good money to have that plug into a phone's micro-usb port and give it a little holder, especially if it was W10 compatible.
Get on it bruh
>>51887603
I need this

Belkin G700 PDA Keyboard for Palm

I bought a serial to USB converter online and I was able to read some serial input. I figured I could write something to read serial input and emulate key input, but I'm not really sure how well that would work.
I assume to get it to work with android you would use bluetooth, but I don't know anything about that either.
Fuck yeah I owned every Sony Clie model including the VZ90
>>51889278
>look up the device in the pic
>$200-$300 on ebay
Fuck me, I would actually use one of those....
HP palmtop organizers running on MS-DOS were great. Dump the PDA soft out of memory and you got a 100% PC compatible that ran for 20+ hours on two AAs
>>51889997
Somewhat unrelated, but do you know if those things can use CF cards OOTB?
I need some way to transfer between my OmniBook 300 and my desktop, or at least a Win9x intermediary.
>>51890058
>OmniBook 300
General rule: If the card is less than 256Mb and a SanDisk it's very nearly guaranteed to work. Pic is the exact card I use. Look for the older models that doesn't advertise faster speeds or "USB enabled"
>>51890058
>>51890305
Also, there's a noticeable pause when accessing the CF card first time after coming out of standby. Few seconds on 32Mb and I've heard it gets longer with larger cards. Not a big deal but maybe consider the smallest card you think is needed for the job.
>>51890305
>>51890442
Nice, thanks. I might just grab as small as I can get, 16MB or 32 should be plenty.
I heard the OmniBook 300 also needed a certain BIOS revision for CF cards, but maybe that's just to boot from them. Either way, I can still use whatever I end up with on newer systems anyway.
>>51887603
10/10 i came
>>51889278
man, I wish my old Clie worked still (one day, it just straight up died, screen turned white and then it never came up again)
was the first thing I owned that would play MP3s, and I kind of expected to be a Palm developer by now
mind you, I thought Zip would become the dominant removable media format (carried like 1GB+ of Zip disks with me everywhere), so I was really fucking bad at seeing what the future held
loved the "high-res" 320x320 screen, shit was so cash
I still have the Memory Sticks I got for my Clie, but I don't have the data from back then on them anymore, used them for something else sometime in 2008 or whatever.
>>51887603
my dick is getting hard
anyone know some sites with archives of proprietary PalmOS software?
I'm rigging up a Tungsten E2 and want some stuff for it.
I wish someone would port Classic Palm OS to modern hardware
>>51889400
Shit really? I was going to pick up one on Amazon for $45 last year
>>51892827
there's a really good torrent floating around that has almost every palmos application ever sold.
check the usual places for it.
>>51888630
Well, give it a shot anyway. It's not like you 'll lose something, except time.
>>51892863
There's one for $39 starting bid but everything else is $250+, all the cool shit is too expensive.
got this, it's got a battery that barely lasts half an hour
running windows mobile 6.5, anything i can do with it?
>>51893103
is the battery replaceable?
>>51893103
Look for archives of Windows mobile applications, the OS is pretty nifty and there was a lot of good shit on it.
>>51892869
I dug up a slower than fuck 617 MB "Applications and Games" torrent, we'll have to see if it has anything good in it.
I was thinking about picking up a PDA, what's something good I can get for $30 to $40?
>>51893251
ebay, palm pilot professional (you can expand this with an upgrade board)
>>51893251
Tungsten T series sliders are going cheap as fuck right now, I want one myself, it would probably make a breddy good graphing calculator/organizer.
>>51893347
Those are a little harder to find software for due to the early operating system, I have some software archived from the Palm website though I might throw up on my site and link here some day though.
>>51893229
aye, but over sixty bucks for a new one
>>51886861
>PDA
Hey guise, I used to own a PDA that came as present with a limited edition backpack back in 2000 or 2001, from my memory it was similar to this picture.
Basically, it had no physical keyboard, it looked like a flip phone, the screen - which was 100% touch surface, even though the sensitivity sucked - was not on the top part but on bottom as you can see in the pic, the "lid" was probably only to avoid scratches to the screen, it was just made of plastic.
The whole device when closed was thick around 2 centimeters, it ran on AA batteries if I remember well, the pen you see in the picture was only made of plastic and it could be stored inside the device, from the side in a small deep hole.
The applications I remember were: calendar, notepad and calculator. There was nothing special and not even a game I think.
I've been trying to remember the name of the device for a while but I really can't remember anything. By any chance, anyone knows anything similar? If my memory isn't wrong, the backpack was branded "invicta" though the device was probably not of the same brand.
>>51893820 (cont.)
Also the color was a modern grey: the lid was dark grey and the part with the screen was light grey. The material was similar to this picture, it looked a bit cheaper though.
Had one of these back in the day. Couldn't afford the TyTN II, which had GPS. This one had too, but it was disabled by HTC for some reason.
It was amazing how many features this phone had.
Can anyone recommend a PDA or UMPC solely to be used as a dumb terminal? I'd just use it to SSH somewhere, so either built-in ethernet / WiFi or at least adaptable somehow.
Things like >>51889997 would be good.
>tfw playing Age of Empires on a PocketPC
I had this sexy fucker back in the day. A lot of space trader was had on it.
>>51887603
I think I'm pregnant
Have a Dell Axim x51 in my car for music. Pretty awesome
>>51894645
Handspring visor. Had a cartridge slot on the back iirc. And a few cool addons you could purchase.
I had a palm pro but I always wanted one of the visors.
>>51893925
This (>>51889997) has an "ok" screen for terminal stuff, 80x25. SSH won't really work on the 80186 processor though. The solution? Telnet into a router running DD-WRT and SSH from that.

My Palm Pilot *Professional* died on me during a high altitude excursion (>12000 ft) and I never did replace it. I did manage to suck the data off it though.
I also had a Newton 110 and I still have a Zaurus (w/WiFi), Newton 2100, eMate, and HP 95LX, 100LX, and 200LX which I think is the ultimate pea and I still use it every day,

I've used ipod touch for all that shit since around 2009.

I'll give you old ass shit
Used to have one of these back in elementary school. Thinking of seeing if I could grab one off eBay for cheap as an early Xmas gift.
That ninja platformed game - also proto-SMSing.
I used this religiously when I was a kid, it was the shit. I know its a phone, but it was class.
This was our verison of the HTC TyTN. HTC wasn't really sold as a brand in the UK at the time.

I want one, but not for $400.
