I just use Subsonic. I barely ever listed to music on my phone, when I do I just stream it from my home server, making a selection of albums for my phone would be too restrictive and too much of a hassle considering how rarely I'd use it.

Also use Spotify for streaming. It has an annoying issue where it seems to forget it is playing (no more notification) and unplugging the headphones or taking the call will result in the music continuing to play. Was almost embarassing when I went to a party and unplugged my headphones, but I was just listening to Kanye West so it was no big deal. My dad called me while I was listening to Spotify on headphones and I couldn't hear him until I went back into the app and paused it.
Also use Google Play Music for streaming my library (free version).

This is all well and good, but my primary issue is that most players have very spotty ReplayGain support. I almost blew my eardrums out when I played a M4A I loaded to my device with RG tags (RG set something like -17db)
Vanilla supports RG in MP3 and Flac, but not AAC/M4A, haven't tried other codecs.
