/hpg/ generally frowns on bose 'cause they're a bit expensive for the sound quality you get, and because noise cancelling distorts audio, but if you're gonna be using them on a noisy commute, they're probably not the worst option.

Don't know anything. Old Bose earplugs broke a while ago. Looking for a new pair. Was thinking about getting the newer version of my old ones. I don't see bose mentioned here a lot so are they a meme or are their products actually good? I loved my old earbuds but if there is a cheaper option it would be nice.

Pic is the new version. I like them because they stay snug in your ear and you don't have to shove them way down in your ear hole for good sound.

basically are there any other comparable ear buds to pic related

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to tell the difference between a high quality mp3 and flac.
I have a lot of flac, and am looking to convert it to mp3.
What program (and settings) do you guys recommend for best quality-filesize ratio? I'm running an ssd-only system, and while I have a little over 600gb total available, I'm still running out because I like to explore a lot of music.
I would of course move the flacs to an external drive.

Worst headphones i have ever used!

They were cheaply made, sound terrible, uncomfortable, and all around bad.

The build quality was terrible. I have $30 headset that is dying and the build quality is still better then these pieces of trash. I picked them up and they felt more fragile then a baby. I imagine that if you drop these eve once they will break.

They sound worse then those cheap speakers you find in those talking birthday cards. They cant go high, or low. And even the mids sound washed out and gross. When they have to go either high or low they struggle and make a rattling noise. I tried listening to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen to test them out because the song does all octaves and such and it sounded flat and nasty like they were playing out of those cheap headphones that came with your walkman in the 90's.

They were so light that they felt like they would fall off my head if i sneezed. Light headphones are nice but not this light. And the ear cups have this weird plastic thing inside that push on the tip of your ear for what seems like no reason and its really uncomfortable. And the padding while it looks soft and comfy has no support and its like having just the plastic on your head and ears.

They are just all around a piece of garbage and i feel bad for anyone who bought these at full price. Ive used headphones from a $1 store and they were better than these in every way. To think this is sennheiser's mid/high range headphones makes me worry about the rest of their headphones. I highly doubt these were broken as there was no marking or anything on them and i doubt it was that they malfunctioned or anything because ive heard headphones like that and they didnt sound anything like this. Please, for your sake dont buy these. they are just so bad!

Time to get memed on Beyer.

Ill just sum it up, beyers DT880 didnt stand a chance against the X2. Straight from the box, these sound heavenly, trebeles detailed, natural and nonsibilant, a lot less muddy than my modded hd 518.

Once again I heard new things artists were doing in recordings that I couldnt hear before, lips removed and put on instruments, all that kinda stuff.

Sound stage was wider than senns, not mindblowingly, but by a easily noticeable margin. Bass was a lot deeper, almost as the old M50 and was confirmed on sinegen.

Mids are normal, everything is in balance, only a slight thinnes is what bugs me. I bet money on that not a single reviewee has mentioned this, since it extremely unnoticeable, but I have baby ears apparently (still hear 20khz). But it is eerily creepy to hear people leaning into the mic, feeling like they are present between your ears.

Build is 10/10, should be standard which all headphones are compared to. Full aluminium, memeryfoam eardpads with velour, and leather covered headband which just fits, no need for settings. Only tiny gripe is that with glasses, the foam is a little bit hard so it takes a few moments before they settle, then ur good for hours.
>>
>>51885056
If you want choclate, you need chocolate. Irrational lust is how I would explain it, its like they expect planars to take them to that next plane(ar)

And solid like a russian tank. No getting over the facts, these headphones are tall and big.

So who needs these? Well if you dont want boring headphones, that actually makes it bass somewhat heard (these are by no means close to a bassheads headphone). They are just very balanced, there is nothing that bugs me in the FR. A slight thinnes can be heard, but only if you reeeeeeally listen for it, and impossible to spot for most people. The problem is that your review loses slight value because of the headphones you were used to, which are not the best. If you manage to, listen to the hd650, he-6, hd800 and lcd-3s.
I'm not trying in any way to be a faggot and insult you because you like the x2, they are good headphones and it's nice to see people actually bothering to write up a review for hpg just don't think they are an endgame until you have heard the other mid or high-end tier headphones.
>>
So will getting a DAC/amp improve audio in any way? I got the dt990 (yes I know the memes) 250ohm and everything from my lg g3 to my x220 have no problem getting them to a high volume. If I wanted to go full headfi I would describe the low end as uncontrolled and it doesn't leave much of a impact

I hear it go both ways, waste of money and it will change music 5ever. Basically, I am wondering if there is some objective proof on how it increases sound quality.

Theyre not perfect and i discussed the one main flaw in the sound, slight thinnes. But I digress, Id much prefer the 6khz piercing and resonating treble spike of the hd800(and the 5x price) due to a design flaw. Hd650 being almost twice the price I paid for my X2 is redicolous, might have better separation, but will sound veiled and slightly less bass than X2s. But yes I will have to try them someday, but I know pretty much what to expect.

I'll probably end up ordering a e10k even if I'm told it does fuck all. Would get a smsl sd793-II but I had to downgrade my motherboard to something without spidif out and I don't know if plugging it into my video card would work.

Jealous of the people that can try out headphones and audio equipment, we don't have any shops that do that her, unless it's with Beats.
>>
>>51886141
The dt880 have a sharp as fuck drop at around 10Khz, the hd600 extends further than that

They try to compensate for it by fucking your ears with a treble boost at 9khz
>>
>>51886168
I'm sorry but you really don't know what to expect, try and not be biased and make an informed decision on what headphones you prefer after you have tried most of the recommended ones
>>
>>51886141
My sides are in another plane(ar).
Dt880 have no bass at all. No bass, period. Even with my amp put to max bass (or through eq on the pc soundcard), they just sound reasonable.
>those metallic, piercing trebles

Also did you do an side by side comparison like i did? If so post pics. Didnt think so faggot
>>
>>51886201
Yeah the e10k is fine and you'll always be able to use it if you buy another pair of headphones which really need an amp
>>
>>51886214
HD600 is a lot more expensive than a DT880.
>>
>>51886228
I doubt I have to, if everybody says the X2 have a noticeable amount of more bass than senns (and graphs show that but watever), Im just happy with x2s. Im not arguing anymore which are better, hd650 or X2, since buildquality is not plastic on X2, ill stick with these. And I hate the muddy smooth sound of sennheisers, some enjoy it, but Im more analytical.
>>
>>51886300
Also they cant driven through a phone for the most part what I read.
>>
>>51886264
Sounds good then I was just surprised the volume went so high. The collective internet told me it would be the opposite.
>>
>>51886300
The x2 is known for being a sightly bassy headphone (not that this is a bad thing) and yes, the build quality is absolutely top notch, hopefully other brands will start putting out cans that are built this well.
Have you ever listened to a pair of hd600, hd800, he-560, he-6, audeze cans, stax or even a proper speaker setup?
I have heard the x2 and enjoyed them quite a lot, a lovely sound signature, but far from analytical I'm afraid.

No I havent, and I will not unless I see them at a store. X2 are not bassy, they actually just have bass. Ask Tyll, he deemes them supremely balanced, I agree, they are not lacking in any part of the fq. He deemes them better than Hd600, so you must be a sennheiser shill. And ofc id expect hd800 to sound better due to 5x price... Tired arguments are tired, I have to go now, k bye.

It needs to hit the desired SPL.
It should do this without noticeable added distortion, frequency response shift, or added noise from the amplifier.
That's it.

/hpg/ doesn't claim much about amplifiers being much of an absolute necessity. We can't since we don't know how loud you want it, or your electronics. Most of those 250 ohm Beyers, K702, HD600/650 fall into the maybe category.

Hey /hpg/

I've seen a few anons post about the AKG K7XX over the few times I have been on /hpg/, and I have a quick question.

Would the K7XX's be worth $343 CAD (Approx. $250 USD)? I also like the look of the K7XX's

If I do end up buying, I'll get a Fiio E12 with it

Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wasn't the k7xx and pretty much the rest of akg what on six months before for treble rape and no bass?

And now what's with this recent push back from x2 fags?

And who's this fag giving shitty headfi esque reviews of headphones.

What's going on in hpg?!
>>
>>51888669
I found something that I think may be a huge downside for me
I plan on using them for portable audio as well and apparently they're 95 Ohms while my K550's are 32
Would an iPod Touch 6 juice them enough? What would the drawbacks be assuming the DAC on my Touch doesn't power them well?
>>
>>51889217
X2 was on sale for 200 on amazon for prime users last night, and depending on where you live had free same day shipping, so a lot of people have new X2s they want to justify
>>

>>51888669
It's a decent headphone. It has bass that extended well while still retain the balance. You should try listening to it.

No worry, it has a great sensitivity and your iPod should drive them loud enough.

I mostly agree. my 598 has better soundstage and the mids are more present and more pleasant than the X2, I would even say overall they're more balanced. but for music the X2 wins out in basically every case. I use my 598 for gaming, and listening to streams, the radio, audiobooks etc. but almost never music.

the x2 is more analytical than the hd600. like all sennheisers the sound seems smoothed to make it more forgiving, like a warm or dark headphone but with a mid-forward sig. they don't overdo it like the 650 but the sennheiser sound is kind of anti-analytical in a way. that said the x2, and even stuff like the dt880 or k701 is not more analytical or detailed than say a v6. I don't buy into the idea that more expensive headphones reveal more details, unless you've just been listening to the wrong headphones. a v6 will reveal 99% of all the detail in a track there is. it's the presentation of that detail that matters.

>>51889217

701 is not less veiled than the 600, more dull sounding if anything. 600 has a hint of a v-shaped curve, except there is that 7-8kHz plunge.

X2 has more of a smiley EQ to it than HD600, and less lower mid.

I realize that this is the headphone general, but there isn't a speaker general so I'll just ask here. What are some good speakers for less than $300? I've dabbled with various audiophile headphones, and while they produce exceptional sound, I prefer the freedom that speakers provide.

lsr305. people have been shitposting them lately because they got popular but they're pretty much the best value speakers out there, and no need for an amp. you might be able to find a deal on them somewhere. they were $99 each on amazon around black friday but you can still get them for $250 a pair which is a discount. be aware though most of these speakers do no provide the same "freedom" that big floorstanders do. they sound amazing for the price but they are for near-field listening at a desk, so they sound best in the sweet spot.

wait, do you mean a cardioid mic? i dont know why youd have to use a dynamic one because of your room. you mean because of refractions right?

A dynamic one pick much less noise from the background like echo etc.

well thats just because of its high impedance no?

anyway, im sure you could get away with it if you have a stand, well as long as you have carpeting at least. if you have non carpeted floors youre fucked. i mean unless youre doing professional shit. but carpeting + stand (so the mic isnt near any objects), good preamp so you can turn up the software volume and have the gain lower= at least 80% decent sound

Oi faggots

Having little experience with headphones, and being extremely dissatisfied with my Sennheisers, considering what I paid for them, I'd like to know which ones to go for next?

Priorities:
1. Over ear. Nothing else is acceptable.
2. Bass
3. Clarity of bass (beats must not be muddy)
4. Price
5. Danish retailer (if possible)

If you have any questions that would help you narrow down your suggestions, please, by all means, reply. I will be monitoring this thread, for the purposes of perhaps coming to a decision myself, although I think that is unlikely. I haven't ever bought a pair of headphones that I've been 100% satisfied with, unfortunately.

Hopefully, a bunch of audiophiles like ya'll will know better than a hick Dane like me.

Copying what seems to be the official 'template'.

>Budget
100$-200$

>Location
Denmark

>Source
Desktop PC, laptop, no amp or dac, please try to avoid headphones that require either, otherwise, post a recommended amp to go with them.

>Preferred type of headphone
full-sized / over-ear

>Open or closed
closed

>Comfort level
Must be comfy, hence why they must be full-sized cans.

>Preferred music
Electronic/bassy with hard beats

>Past headphones
Sennheiser 240 Pro
Sennheiser PC 350

Neither have lived up to the pricetag.
