Is there a point getting mechanicals if I prefer bottoming out over touch typing?

I feel it just slows me down and is tiring
>>
>>51877695
Bottoming out and touch typing are not mutually exclusive. The lighter switches are very hard to avoid bottoming out, so don't feel bad about it. Or you can get one of the heavier switches.

Or put thick o-rings to reduce the travel distance if you really want to.
>>
>>51877695
>bottoming out over touch typing?
you mean light typing

touch typing just means not looking at the keyboard

widebasket replied to me I can't return an unboxed Leopold to him, as it can't be considered "mint in sealed box".

So that basically means I can't return if I regret the topre meme, and that means I'm not betting 250$ on a gamble.

I'm probably going to get the 109€ novatouch with 14 days return no questions asked and see how it goes.

And yes, I'm the same anon selling the mx blues Poker II.
>>
>>51878079
I'd consider buying that off you if it weren't ISO, had ugly as fuck keycaps and a function row which I can access without having to press the FN key.

Anyone tried the new Corsair K95 or K70?

Looks like they ditched the tramp stamp branding

Or, hang on, let's refer to Coolermaster Gaming's ad copy on their website

The original QuickFire Rapid gaming keyboard was embraced by gamers worldwide because it made the difference. Now the QuickFire TK takes the QuickFire Rapid and put it on steroids! [...] Great for LAN parties.

Nope, not gamey at all. I take it back.

From what I've seen people say online...

the buckling spring is to cherry MX's,
what cherry MX's are to rubber domes

IE, people seem to cum buckets over them, especially the genuine IBM model M's. Of course, the noise factor can be career suicide depending on your situation at work.

And the EnduraPro...buckling spring with clit mouse, oh man. God I want one of these too, but my wife already thinks I'm nuts for spending more than $20 on my first mechanical.

Anyone here have an EnduraPro?
>>
>>51884950

>being so brainwashed he can't use a new layout that makes more sense
>>
>>51882345
Yeah, but zenkaku is used (on the HHKB JP it's the logo key to the bottom left), along with @[];:,./-^ layout etc. I used the Japanese layout for 6 years. I can fluently type at about 115 WPM with using shift 7 for apostrophe, which I actually prefer because sometimes I hit Enter on non-Japanese layouts when attempting to press the apostrophe. And shift 2 for quotes.

No big deal though, it's all preference. I have actually seen quite a few Japanese saying that the HHKB JP layout is terrible and they prefer the western layout, just because virtually all Japanese use romaji and tab/numbers/enter to write (hence the small spacebar).
>>
>>51883506
Just to let you know the Novatouch doesn't have an aluminum backplate while the FC660C does. What this means is, they will feel entirely different even if they use the exact same switch. Same goes for the HHKB Pro 2 and FC660C, they use the same 45g Topre switches but they feel different.
>>
>>51885028
I'm assuming hhkb and novatouch will be different as well.

Not like I care since I find the hhkb arrow cluster to be retarded (up and down two rows apart! lol)
>>
>white leds
>cherry red or blacks (might settle for browns)
>tenkeyless
>no autistic layouts or design

what do you guys recommend?
>>
>>51885083
I only have a HHKB Pro 2, but honestly if I had to buy between the FC660C and HHKB Pro 2. I would choose the 660C although I have not used it. They are about the same price, but the 660C's layout seems more worthwhile. It's all because of the aluminum backplate (and the ins/del which I would probably map to page up/down).

Not really, a stiffer linear seemed to be the best option based on my experience with black, lighter and some accidental bombing happened. Doesn't unicomp hold the molds and manufacturing means for ibm buckling spring keyboards? Fortunately for them the ThinkPad™ yoda is more niche and expensive so they still have time to find the SSK mold and add a clit to it

Handwired. I'm not using a Teensy, but a cheaper ATMega32u4 board so I may have to play around a bit getting it to work. I won't have to set up a matrix because of how few switches there are, though. I started with the BrownFox guide on Deskthority.

Looks like Tai Hao Beige Alert with the red escape and enter keys taken from another set.
Double shot ABS, thicker than standard but not super thick. Price is pretty low for double shots.

I am confused. What is the MX Clear equivalent, but in 62g, in Zealio form? 62g Purple Zealio Tactile, right?

Also, have they ever offered a keyboard with 62g Zealio switches on Massdrop?
>>
>tfw enjoying the smooth uninterrupted keystroke of an MX Red
why do you need the bump tactilefags? can't you tell you activated the key when the character appears on the screen?
>>
>>51890644
Linears are the best. I prefer Kailh reds to cherry reds since they're smoother and a little heavier, but typing on them is so much better than tactiles. Some clickys are ok.
>>
>>51890468
>What is the MX Clear equivalent, but in 62g, in Zealio form? 62g Purple Zealio Tactile, right?
What else would it be? Also, are you aware that the force rating on a Cherry switch is not the same thing as the force rating on a Zealio?
>>
>>51881304
Does anyone on reddit have cute anime girl faces on their keyboards? Has that caught on yet, or is it just mikufag and watashifag?
>>
>>51890848
No, I know nothing about Zealio. I have MX Clears and I wanted to get 62g Clears, preferably without modding, but it doesn't look like that's going to be possible.
>>
>>51890914
A 62g Zealio is just barely heavier than a Cherry brown. The 62g tactiles had few orders, so Zeal didn't have very many produced and I believe they're all sold out, now.
>>
Reddit had a poll where people picked their favorite keyboard.

Here's the top ten:
1. Pok3r
2. HHKB
3. Novatouch TKL
4. CM Storm Quickfire Rapid
5. Poker 2
6. Planck
7. Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless
8. IBM Model M
9. Corsair K70 RGB
10. Realforce TKL 55g

I'm honestly not surprised. It also matches the contents of these threads very well.

Also tiny fucking 60 key keyboards being 300$ is retarded, and you're retarded for being so into it
>>
>>51891396
I prefer the aluminum case and more industrial feeling Pok3r has, the HHKB feels kind of cheap in comparison. I also feel more confident in my typing on the Pok3r than I do on the HHKB, my WPM is higher too, although I like the HHKB's layout and the modifiers feel better.

I would like to get my hands on a 660C eventually. Same switches as the HHKB but aluminum so maybe it's what I'm looking for.

Blank caps are literally pointless and exist just to appeal to massive autists. The only possible reason I can think of for blank caps is to avoid ugly wearing of the letters, but HHKBs are PBT anyway.

Why? What about this key is so special that you autists feel you have to make it red? Why not the enter key, or the tab key, or the meta key, or any number of other keys that are surely used more frequently?

So which am I better off doing; buying a random <$50 mechanical keyboard on newegg or amazon, or a regular keyboard? I tried looking for those cheap keyboards in the pastebin, but either I can't easily find them, or they aren't full keyboards and I'm not interested in that.

Newbie on mechs here.
I bought Ducky Shine 5 (Brown) as my first mechanical keyboard some time ago.

Here is my toughs about it so far:
MX Browns feel amazing to type whit.
I really like general simple look of the keyboard.
It was expensive, but that is same whit every quality mechanical keyboard afaik. I paid 200€ for it. (Nordic)

Negatives: Only one. Space bar led lights will shine right in to my eyes from my normal sitting height. This can be fixed by adding small slip of tape to front edge of space bar.

red is 5 harder, black is the same, brown is 15 harder, blue is 10 harder
