Google pics this faggots. Time to put an end to beyerfags.
First off: flimsiest pieces of shit I have ever handled, srsly, koss porta pros are more sturdy.

Sound: shrieking metallic trebles. Terrible no bass at all, roll of is insane.
Mids are ok, low trebles are good. Needed a fuckton off bass adjustment to even sound decent, and even then they just are meh. And I dont even like bass!
Considered analytical sounding by the teksyndicate fag, well they sound like nothing at all. Clarity and separation is good, even slightly better than my 518s, but honestly beyers were 200, senns 100.

Negative/10, would not let rape my ears again.

Stay the fuck away from beyers, worst headphone company on the planet. Also I did 24h burn in on decent volume so stfu about that, burn in isnt even real... Only these burn do is to burn your hearing away. Th-thanks beyerdynamic

Comfort takes priority over sound quality, more than anything else I want something circumaural. I'd prefer pleather over velour, but that doesn't really matter.

Anything without extreme bass. I tried a potential buy not too long ago where the bass was so intense it was literally painful to listen to music. I'm not sure if that was something unusual or not, but it's made me wary of anything advertising a lot of bass. Would prefer decent isolation.

Full retard.
>>
>>51866547
I've heard very good things about the XPT100, haven't personally tried them though.
I do have the headset version of the Takstar Hi2050 (open Pro 80s) and I can tell you the headband is very well padded, and if the pads are switched out to HM5 pads they're both insanely comfortable.
Also, allegedly the Pro 80s have a bit more of a V-shaped sound signature than the XPT100. You can't really go wrong with either.
>>
>>51866633

And tell my why they sound equally shitty without an amp and driven through a powerful soundcard? Huh, they just gotta be bad I suppose.

Also stop it with the impedance meme
>>
>>51866725
It doesn't even matter that they "sound equally shitty"
You're just showing how fucking dumb you are by saying that you use a receiver to power headphones, especially low impedance ones like the senns and shp9500
>>
>>51866760
Oh god you really are delusional, what impedance do you think recievrs put out through a headphone jack? You must beleive in placebo separate amp/dacs
>>
>>51866760
You mean the way that everyone did it until the mid 90's when Headroom started the headphone specific amp trend? With stuff like planars or most studio models, it don't matter a bit.

Receivers just put a resistor on the main amp and send that to the headphone output, this results in a fuckhuge impedance on the output.
I do not recommend separate amp/dac setups, I use my stock thinkpad output or my iPhone.

Some did that. Good ones didn't. People realized that problem even in the 1950's. Even the ancient Koss tap converter box used sets of resistors in parallel for super low impedance.
>>
>>51866957
99% of receivers do this, that's why "pro" versions of headphones exist with very like impedance exist, 250 600 etc.
His headphones are all low impedance and I can basically guarantee his receiver is a typical design with a resistor on the main amp.

But you still tried to invalidate my argument of driving it through a soundcard.... And even if they had high output impendance (which this one definitively doesnt since sounds are more clearer and noise free compared to my soundcard) the Beyers would benefit due to being 250ohm model which is safe in anyway you want to put it.

lately. Here's some links to what I listen to would usually sound like

https://youtube.com/watch?v=f6oeh0Ebstg
https://youtube.com/watch?v=bJGvLLEZQAA

I've been looking at the beyerdynamics DT990 32Ohm's, but my only problem with them is they're open headphones, and I plan on using what I buy in public. A local store sells beyerdynamics products and I'm going to head over there soon to see if they have any 990's

I also love the 990's design, the vent design looks amazing imo. I'll also buy an amp in future, but for the 990 32Ohm I'm pretty sure it isn't absolutely necessary. I will later if I want to improve my listening experience at home

If I end up with the 990's and they're too loud for public use, then I'd still be okay to use them at home. Thanks in advance for any recs!
>>

Cheap BeyerDynamic (don´t remember model) ---> Sennheiser PC 161 (7 years with them).

I want crystal sound and clear & power bass, but not too bassy. What I dont like about my actual headphones and rig is the low volume. If I connect them to my Amp (Yamaha RX-V663) they sound a lot more but soon start to distort. For reasons I want the phones connected directly to the PC. They are old, they are for PC, and they are open, everybody can listen to what I hear and they are too small, my ears hurt after hours.
The headphones I wanted first were the AKG K553 Pro (only sold for Murrica) and maybe later a phone-amp.
Of course any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Should I choose a Fiio e10k Olympus 2 OR the original version, the Fiio e10k. Is there a difference between the two? pls help

and thanks btw

Basically an amp does what its name implies, it amplifies the sound signal so it could power higher reistance headphones. A DAC would change sound more than an amp unless your source is too weak to power your headphones but a DAC only helps if your source isn't clean and experience interference

God fucking damn it, just when I think "There probably won't be anymore good headphone sales now that Black Friday/Cyber Monday are over", nope. I bought the HD598s thinking there wouldn't be any good sales left for higher end headphones. I could've had a way better headphone for $199.

Meh, I think I'll return the HD598s once they arrive and just buy the HD600s. The X2s really weren't what I was looking for anyways.

>>
>>51871338
Fuck, guess I'll pass on them then.

I'm looking around for full-sized closed headphones at $300-$500 to wear at night to not disturb anyone else. My other option was the Oppo PM-3, but they are apparently a little small and more suited for portability.

Or should I go with the HD600s for $399 with a $150 Amazon gift card?
>>
>>51871595
The gift card is much better since it is effectively $250 HD600s.

Why the fuck would you need a DT900+M30x along with the HD600s?
>>
>>51871627

Idk, I like trying all kinds of headphones, but I guess I don't need those. I'll just use the $150 gift card for an amp and call it a day.

The price for the regular black M50x isn't that bad on Amazon right now, so yeah. Wouldn't pay more than $125 for them. Just a note that some people have found M50 uncomfortable. Stretching them out helps a lot.

DT770s are your other main option given that you likely want good bass quantity.
>>
>>51871801

HD600s for $399 with a $150 Amazon gift card or HD650s for $499 with a $200 Amazon gift card?

>>51872124
No direct experience with the HD650, but by all accounts they're very similar to the HD600s except with more bass and a warmer, smoother sound (compared to the more neutral HD600). So it depends on your preferences.

I still use my M50s from time to time. They're V-shaped with lots of bass and fairly emphasized treble, so instruments stand out more than vocals.

If you get the M50s, I really recommend stretching them out for comfort since they can clamp hard.

No experience with DT770s, but they have a reputation for very good comfort and better subbass than the M50s. However, from >>51872369 the treble seems to be even stronger than the M50s so it depends if you are sensitive to piercing highs.

>>51873270
Honestly, I was disappointed in the Orpheus (Chord Hugo > OrIginal Orpheus Amp > Orpheus), there were at least 3 other setups which I liked more.
>>
>>51872900
A lot of difference for me, went from being painful to "almost forget they are on my head" tier. Then again you may not want to stretch them right away and see if the default clamp is comfortable enough for you.

The M50s are best suited for electronic music and rhythm-heavy genres that don't require a lot of openness. They sound a little tinny and compressed for stuff like classical, but most closed cans have a problem with that in the first place. The M50s are good performers in their niche if you're looking for bassy/V-shaped sound, but their popularity has caused them to be overpriced a lot of the time.
>>
>>51873307
Oh and I found out the the Chord Hugo uses a Spartan FPGA.
Still not worth the money though.

>>

Also to add since the budget you mentioned is much higher than the "good price" for an M50x, it might be worth it and go a tier up for the ATH-MSR7, which have a more neutral presentation.

>>
>>51873723

>>
>>51873777
Well, boring in musical representation as its lacking "energy" due to roll-off subbass and no hump in mid bass. The vocal will be not sound clear because its not really follow DF curve. EQ can fix some of the problem if you know how to do it properly.

If you want some fun headphone, try X2; It didn't need amp and have a great build quality, especially when discounted now at $199.

NVX XPT100 is the same price. There also basically the same headphone. HM5 is not as comfortable because it has a tad bit more clamp. However you get a much nicer case with the HM5. The NVX XPT100 comes with angled pads and normal pads where as the HM5 comes with 2 pairs of normal pads. I personally like the normal pads better.

If you don't live in the usa then you probably aren't going to find the nvx xpt100.

I've used ATH-M50's for a couple of years and I like the sound quality for casual listening but they hurt my ears after prolonged use because my earlobes are being pressed upon. I've tried the stretch mod but I don't think it works well enough because it's not so much the clamping, more so the limited space inside the pads.
