>he still doesn't own an m.2 ssd
what's your excuse?
I do not even own one. I have time.

I just upgraded my laptop to an mSATA SSD last week, and it doesn't even support mSATA let alone m.2
m.2 ssd are a meme

Actually SSDs are upgrade of choice for poorfags because they make everything appear "fast"
well meme'd OP

So what are the benefits over a SATA SSD?
>>51864559
It's an SSD that plugs into a mini-pcie slot, removing you from the limitations of SATA 3
>>51864613
What limitations do we need removed given the M2 drive posts lower benchmarks than the SATA ones here?
>>51864559
well, it's actually not M.2 that's better, because that's just a weird complicated pcb form factor that can be either sata or pcie IIRC. The cool new thing is NVME, which is basically a replacement of the SATA protocol that allows for requesting read/write actions that would be retarded on spinning rust. And of course sata is limited to 600MB/s, which is solved by using pcie.
I'm probably getting shit wrong, but you can google nvme for yourself if you want to know more.
>>51864664
It's cheating m8, they aren't actually that fast
>>51862557
Because the packaging limitations of m.2 are just asking for thermal problems
Going u.2 instead
>>51864759
I was worried about that too, but apparently the 950 pro only really throttles when constantly running benchmarks. I would still prefer something with a cable too though. And they should probably get rid of the sata power cables too, while they're at it.
