So poor college student here. My television recently exploded and I can't buy an expensive one to replace it. I was using it to play videogames and watch movies etc with friends. Are there any cheap teles less than 300 USD that aren't absolute garbage? I've never had to shop for one before so I have no clue what to look for.

Looked further into it. You're correct, it seems the only audio output it has is a USB (I believe) and typical computer audio jack/RGB.
Guess I'll have to look a bit further. I did want something that I could plug some speakers in atleast.

I'de be up for buying a second hand, or old one, if it was decent. I have money enough for a cheaper television, so I'de rather go with the best cheapest television than just save money, because the situation won't be that I have 300$s right now and in a month or two I'll have even more. It will instead be I've spent that 300 on some other crap I have to buy.
If I really wanted to cheap it out I have a 720p 23 inch hiding in my parents place somewhere I could grab but I would expect around christmas time it would be possible to get a cheaper one that's good enough for videogames.

It's more just streaming crap from my computer to the screen. I use to go out and party/socialize but the the farther I get in classes the less I care about that shit. Plus I'm in like three separate organizations plus finishing up an internship so I basically have no life. I'm in the same boat as you almost OP. I need to buy a new TV for my grandmother to enjoy but don't have a huge budget ($400~). I don't know jack about tvs but want something I can set up netflix on for her easily. We've got wi-fi so that part is handled.
