Idk man, when I used Apple phones I wish I had just stuck with the 4. My 4s was a total piece of shit, whereas my 4 my brother is STILL using.
Apple has their hit and miss years, that's for sure. The 6s is their best yet for sure. The battery life for the first time in years beat the pants off of most other phones, and 3d touch was the first good idea they had since Siri IMHO.

apple specifically makes it so it's never "worthwhile" to upgrade only 1 generation later.
They make it better, but only enough to entice the fanboys. Or those 2 generations or older.
They dont want to release something TOO good, because then everyone who bought the 6S will be upset their phone is outclassed only a year later.
It's a balancing act and apple has proven to be one of the best. Dont expect anything different with the 7.

I kept switching from iOS to android and back, but I'm feeling pretty comfortable with my iphone 6 now, I miss the IR blaster my last android phone had (which to be honest isn't even an android feature), but overall I feel iOS has slowly caught up with all the important features android brought first.
Also I wish I could use siri to control 3rd party apps like it does with apple apps (play whatever song on spotify, for instance).

iOS has had to catch up, it was and still is eating ass in market share. As India, China, and other areas grow more, iOS just isn't going to be the choice.
I think we're to the point though that if Google can do a few things, and more premium phones come out for Android, we're going to see iOS lose its position in the premium segment.

Most apps and games are single-core, which the iPhone will be better at. Add this to the lower screen resolution on the iPhone (FullHD vs QuadHD) and you definitely have the smoother experience there. Battery life and update policies are also great, so the iPhone is the better facebook-machine / mobile gaming device. Camera and screen quality probably go to the Samsung, although the slightly oversaturated colours in both are not everybody's thing. Also you can mod the Samsung a lot more due to it being Android obviously.
Overall they are quite different devices, if you want a smooth experience for 2+ years and are not crazy about specs get the iPhone, if you want something flashy with a sharp screen and an excellent camera go for the Samsung. Maybe consider the Note 5 as well when looking at Samsung, its faster and overall more usable than the S6 Edge(+).

Also with my experience on iOS, I really contest smooth experience for 2 years. It's 1 year, then it's a crapshoot if the next version of iOS lags your device out a lot, or doesn't The version 2 years out certainly will, and that's the last update you will get. It's never worth getting an iOS 2 versions ahead, typically.

Android indefenitely beats iPhones in gaming. I just really like the Dual Core processor a lot more in the iPhone.
I got a Moto X Pure last week, upgraded from a 2013 Moto X. The colors on the screen aren't as nice as the AMOLED screen but the brightness makes up for it since I can now use it in the sunlight with no problems. It's huge though, I can still use it reasonably well with one hand but in the future using any phone larger than 5.7" will be too much for me when I upgrade.

"app drawer" is accessed by pulling the screen leftwards. lists all installed apps in ABC order. can be searched etc. pinning to start screen involves holding down app and choosing "pin"

basic customization options are "picture behind tiles" and you can change the opacity of the tiles...
other option is "picture as the tiles". Kinda groovy but engages my claustrophobia for some reason. There are many apps for setting black tiles with pictures in them or making black space in general. With the aforementioned transparent tile setup ive seen some pretty neat layouts.

i have a Moto G and last night my battery got 0% and turned off like normal, but its not recharging anymore and wont turn back on. i tried using a Power button + Volume Down button command to bring the boot menu up that i read about online but it hasnt been working.

Na dude you'll breathe new life into it with a custom ROM. I put CM13 on my old S3 just for fun and it's stable enough to use as a daily driver. I believe Samsung has a decent contingency plan in place through ODIN if it shits the bed. If it's your first time just make sure you follow directions.

If I turn this ON and flash, recovery won't work.

My Nexus 6 had no problem holding 12 apps in RAM. I usually have Keep, Hangouts, Calendar, Weather Timeline, Inbox, Mailbox (is made the kill), Lifesum, Jawbone UP, Google Fit, Fabulous, and a Chrome tab of TicTrac all in my recent apps and I can cycle between them with no reloading. Number 1 use of battery is Android OS (probably one of my apps abusing something) but screen is next. It can fully charge in about 1hr 45min with the QC charger (almost 1% per minute).
