What does /g/ think about pirating software? (including games)
>>51858088
i prefer to use the fos alternatives
It's the just out of the closet gay cousin nobody wants to talk about at Christmas dinner
>>51858097
Wym?
Like fuck I'm going to pay 800$ for fl studio
Yes, I do.
For you to pirate something it means said thing is distributed under a nonfree license, hence it's garbage
>>51858104
free open source
>paying for bits
>2015
>>51858118
Ohh ok, good to know.
>>51858112
I started too. It's great. I just got GTA V, and Sony Vegas, and Photoshop CS6
>>51858116
>Every software is garbadge
Ok Richard.
>>51858099
Good way of saying it I guess
>>51858112
This.
Adobe and similar companies make fortunes from selling their software to companies and professionals, so I have 0% guilt when not paying $1k for their software I use to create meme images for anonymous imageboards.
I don't have problems with paying for affordable software, oriented at the home user if it respects me (I'm not talking about you Windows 10).
>>51858088
Massive amounts of archiving.
I think that makes the person pirating a filthy thief who is stealing shit. Buy your shit or get a job.
>>51858274
OK Bill Gates.
>>51858088
pirating promotes degeneracy and consumerism
>>51858088
These days, there's usually some more or less decent free alternative, and the apps for the smartphone/tablet market are cheap.
I'd rather pirate movies or TV shows.
>>51858338
What, you don't consume degenerate porn? Please.
>>51858369
Fair enough m8.
I'm gonna mostly stick to games.
>>51858088
It's perfectly OK to pirate software. It's perfectly OK to protect software with DRM. It's perfectly fuckedup to jail people for piracy. There's a difference between theft and copying.
>>51858338
>the keeping yourself pure doctrine
Just as stupid as no sex before marriage.
>>51858396
Top Kek
>>51858408
Literally fucking this. Could you go to jail?
>>51858088
If you are living in a third world country you pretty much don't have a choice. Small businesses and governments are obligated to have a legal copy Windows and that's how far it goes. Average wages are around 300$ here and almost no one pays for software or games.
>>51858445
Living in the U.S.A

ITT: Tyrone rationalizing.
>>51858143
Every NONFREE software. Also, guy is stupid. Free software/= gratis software. There is nothing wrong with demanding money for softwarr, so long as you don't demand away freedom.
>>51858274
>Buy your shit or get a job
...
>>51858445
I can't afford something, it doesn't make it ok to steal it. You can and should use something available at no cost.
>>51858770
It's not like anyone here can really prosecute you for pirating. No one cares really. I would do that if my country wasn't such a mess. Biggest achievement here is to move out the country...
>>51858963
Out of*
>>51858963
Country?
>>51859093
Serbia.
>>51858429
It's highly unlikely that an ordinary pirate would face a jail sentence, it's more likely to pay hefty fines. People running The Pirate Bay were sentenced to 1 year in jail. So it's true you could go to jail for online piracy albeit it is a little far-fetched :)
>>51858568
It's literally impossible to pirate free software you airhead.
>>51858088
Pirating proprietary software is almost as bad as paying for proprietary software
>>51858088
Pirate =/= make infinite digital copies
>>51859302
I can't trust anything this man says just because he seems incapable of keeping himself somewhat presentable when out in public...

>inb4 private trackers

That's it, I'm installing win10.

Please cite the Quran verse or appropriate hadith that prohibits eating stuff from your foot.
>>51859244
Eeeeehhhhhh. Yea maybe you should move.
>>51859247
>Hefty fines
Yea, thousands of dollars. It would suck.
I use Mega to download most of the shit for free. Am I safe? From you know maybe getting fucked over and get caught.
>>51858099
in what way? You all do him but never speak about it?
>>51859400
I don't know, it probably depends on what country you live in. Im Swedish and I would never dare downloading audio-books made by swedish author (which is from my understanding the most common way of getting caught in sweden, I could be wrong). If you are American you maybe should be more careful or less careful, I dunno. U could lookup past piracy sentences in your country and judge for yourself
