Are Korean 1440p monitors worth it still? Just bought a GTX970 and was looking at 1440p monitors and looks like there's been a lot of development but most brand name stuff is pretty expensive for decent specs while Korean 1440ps are going for ~260$ still
Install gentoo
korean monitors are great for the price. only the single input ones can OC to 120hz. Contrast and blur are a problem, but you can't do better for less than double the price.
If you're within the return period, return the 970 and buy an r9 390, it'll do much better at 1440p.

wait and get a 144hz ips next year
Spend the money on lsd and trip until oled becomes the standard.
>>51857970
Which will cost like $600. Or you could just buy the best monitor now. For $260 you can't go wrong.
>>51857607
If by Korean you mean samsung, then yes.
>>51858018
uh no you can get one for $570 new right now. there will be more and cheaper next year likely.
>>51858081
Not really. Monitors prices have flat lined over the past years, along with most tech. I doubt monitors will be significantly cheaper, and wouldn't be surprised if korean monitors were still $250-300 or even more expensive at that time. I'd say buy now while the option exists. They will stop making these monitors eventually and you'll be stuck buying overpriced consumer brands.

Even as a 970 user I am laffin
Literally should have gotten a 980ti
Any one here using a UHD Tv as a monitor?
You can get a 40" one with 4:4:4, 120Hz and reasonable input lag for ~600USD. Picture quality may not be great but I've heard of people doing this.
At the moment I use 2x1080 22" (16:9) monitors, I'm thinking the tv could be a reasonably priced way to double my pixel count and eliminate bezels. I don't play many games or do professional video/image editing.

What's the matter?
>>51858425
3.5gb meme has impact above 1080p
>>51858444
Oh wait fuck really? They said it was just past 2k at the store (not op)

>this guy
>>51858509
Do u have benchmarks? I'm gonna print out and have a reaaaaly long talk with the sales guy and/or manager.
>>51858530
You are a dumb fuck and it's not just resolution dependent. I have GTX 780 and there hasn't been a single game where I ran out of memory with it using a 1440p display. This has 3 gb of video memory. 2 Gb exceeds easily though. 3,5 Gb is probably just fine unless you are using ton of MSAA on top of running the games at your screen's native resolution.
Well, here is some dude from leddit doing benchmarks on GTX 970 with higher resolutions:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/2tuqd4/i_benchmarked_gtx_970s_in_sli_at_1440p_and_above/
tl;dr; Yeah the 3.5GB meme is real and you should probably get something else if you wish to crank those settings to ultra on 1440p or 4k.
>>51858646
I wasn't the one who said it... Didn't you read the conversation?
I got a Zotac GTX 970 for free, so I can't really complain. It's a beast GPU, literally the 3.5GB meme has not effected me at all, I run everything on Ultra settings.
If you're asking how I got it for free, well after years of shitty support from newegg I couldn't take there shit anymore so I purchased it and just said that I never recieved it, so I got a refund and got too keep the product
best 23" (or smaller) 1080p ips display I can get for an as reasonable as possible price?
>>51859128
It's fucking amazing.
Thinking about buying a few more
>>51859154
thanks, is it any different from the h226hql ?
My adreno 430 is good for 1440p gaming
>>51859265
Not sure buddy. Link?

this senpai
You'll be fine to be honest family.
Anyone have a freesync monitor? I'm looking for a 1440p panel to pair with my Fury.
desu korean monitors are shit and have almost no quality control.
You you could get lucky, but you could get a shit screen
>>51857607
They're still worth it. Good for desktop use, and games look absolutely amazing.
>>51857970
That monitor will cost three times what one of these monitors cost.
This thread is about getting the best performance-to-cost in a monitor, not about having the latest and greatest.
>>51858444
It ought to be enough for 1440p. Usually games will over around 2-3gb of usage at that resolution.
No promises in 2017 tho
>>51858690
>crank those settings to ultra on 1440p or 4k.
But you shouldn't do that. Ultra would indicate everything turned up to the maxium, but when you are running in such a high resolution you have no need for costly anti-aliasing.
>>51860907
>no AA in 1440p
what
Even in 4k you should ideally put 2x MSAA, unless you're blind.
Can someone reccomend a sub £150 1440p monitor, if they even exist?
>>51861579
>msaa in 4k
maximum placebo
>>51861794
they dont
>>51858807
Reporting you to newegg, you're probably gonna be easy to single out.
Also forwarding this thread to the police.
