Holt shit, why do websites do this?

To track you, but that's not even that bad.
>>
>>51856254
Because assholes like you block their main revenue source, meaning they have to shove as much shit in as possible in the hope of some of it getting through. Good job making the internet worse, faggot.
>>
To track you so they can sell all your info to the highest bidder and to plaster their sites with ads and then fill it with clicbait for even more money.

It isn't right if it's necessary for someone to download resources from 20 other websites to make the website usable

Their main revenue source is shit and they all deserve to go bankrupt. I wouldn't mind ads that are simple images with a link somewhere. But if you're actively trying to serve me malware it's kinda your own fault that people are blocking it.

>let's fill up your browser with shitty malware and expect you not to do anything about it
>>
>>51856273
That's actually not it at all.

The majority of off site scripts they are running here aren't for advertising, they're for things like social network linking and functions they couldn't be bothered coding themselves.

The fun fact is that you actually lose functionality with this blocking, not just remove ads. The fact that sites are so reliant on third parties to run their own sites disturbs me.
>>
>block all 3rd party resources
>no script strict
>go to shopping site
>breaks
>go to bank site
>works
>go to gubmint services
>they all just werk
Feels especially good

Also op check out that plugin that hijacks request to common js servers and hosts them locally

>Having any 3rd party resources on your site ever.
One day someone is going to drunkenly write a script that substitutes all the images on your site to horsecocks or whatever they think is funny and replace their original script with that. And then the devs are gonna be in trouble since the CEOs nephew saw a horsecock on their site. And there is literally nothing they can do to defend themselves.

If you don't want to serve some script from under your domain maybe you shouldn't have it on your site at all.
>>
>>51856285
How did you make the website usable?
>>
>>51856273
>adfags

Subtle, non-instrusive ads are okay. But when your website tries to shove a million popups, huge flashy ad banners and music ads down my throat, you deserve to get shot in the head.
>>
I'm a webdev and I do this as a revenge for all the shit /g/ gives to my proud kind
>>
Someone post the tomshardware one with ublock origin
>>
>>51856758
Way to miss the whole point but what can you expect from retarded webdev
>>
>>51856789
Haha Jason, don't be mad that I'm employed and your pony loving ass is not.
This is exactly why I put trackers on webpages :)
>>
>>51856273
Even without people blocking they would still shove in as much as possible to make money. It's a business, that is what they do.
>>
>>51856758
>+90% of /g/ have software against tracking
>will only track normies

At least admit you do it for the dosh.
>>
>>51856254
Because Web Development is a joke. Nobody knows how to write HTML or optimize images or do their own scripting anymore. So they just pile on tons of shit from God knows where until it looka like it kinda sorta maybe works in FireFaggot 997xp++

They should stop being retarded and sell an actual product.
>>
>>51858524
wanna pay for google? is that really the solution?
>>
They do it because it's how they earn their money.
These scripts all collect data about you and lump it with other data collected about you.
This data is very valuable to advertisers.
>>
>>51856273
Are you retarded ?
>they block scripts
>so we'll send them more scripts to automatically get blocked, that'll show them
Retard. Even by "baiting" standards this is still retarded.

You little dimwit, you.

That "majority" for social media functionality is a minority. The actual majority (measured by unique references to cross-site domains) goes to analytics.
>>
>>51858595
The world would be a better place if they'd start charging for their services.
>>
>>51858595
>>51858732
I'd gladly pay for google if it meant that they'd provide me with fast and well working search engine and didn't track every move I make. Note I wouldn't pay for current google as even their frontpage is slow unresponsive unnecessarily bloated piece of shit.

But because the average person rather spends $15 a day to buy shitty coffee than $15 a year to support the web sites that provide quality content to them here we are. Funnily enough almost everyone could make much better coffee themselves for cents a day but they're just too lazy to do it.

There are sites that use off site scripts to display even that.
