This is my first time booting into windows in more then a month and I decided to download the latest windows build of MPV.

I never got this warning before. Has anyone else experienced this yet?

They implemented a new feature in Windows 10 which detects shitty software and flags it as suspicious.

oh my god these colours, that looks so bad

Wouldn't that flag the while OS?

Is /g/ reaching ultra shill memery? Why the fuck would mpv be bad? How is Windows blocking your software good?

I fucking hope you're being sarcastic.

Wow, what the fuck? The difference between the latest build and the previous ones is that the latest one has a digital signature. It shouldn't be flagged by SmartScreen. If anything, it should be less likely than before it was signed. Thanks Microsoft. This is like when the old mplayer2 builds got flagged by shitty virus scanners, except now Microsoft is doing it by default for everyone.
>>
>bad because weeb
windows made their own OS-tan for 10

I don't need to be the billionth person to explain why anime related to 4chan either, but go ahead and shitpost up every thread and berate people who disagree with you. fuckers.

>actual topic
windows 10 you asked for this. slowly locking out open source so win11 can be like telescreens from 1984.

I build I was using before was the august 2015 one.

>>51855538
I only got the pop-up once though. I still regret upgrading from windows 8.1 though because the only "upgrade" I got was the awful color scheme and extra bloat.

I'm just a little worried that windows might start deleting "suspicious" programs one day.
>>
>>51855573
I'm still on 7 i think after i get all the parts for me new pc i'm gonna buy 8.1 and do that upgrade for free later.

I'm using W10 pro with mpv set as the default player and using a portable cfg folder.
Never had that message.

>>
>>51855313
Is MPV going to have proper released builds soon instead of the Tox meme with multiple different lagged builds from different devs for each platform? And a NSIS installer on windows would be nice instead of a shitty bat script for the file handlers
>>
mpv.exe is a known virus. You don't use any of mpv's precompiled binaries, including those in package managers. You people didn't know this?
Compile it from source after checking it. It's not hard.
>>
>suspicious activity
Why the fuck can't it tell some proper reason why it was caught by the protector?
>something happened
Windows is so fucking bad holy fucking shit
>>
>>51855313
as far as I can tell, windows will give you a warning any time you download an exposed .exe file, rather than an archive or some shit.
>>
>>51856212
It's 100% real.

>>51856331
I think I will just disable windows defender.

>>51856339
This is the first time I got a warning like that though that was so specific instead of a general warning to be careful with downloaded exe files.
>>
>>51856351
ye, I noticed my first one today as well.
Not sure if it's new.

That's because you have no AV to tell you your repos are full of viruses.

Pretty clearly suspicious activities

Did you click Run anyway?

Also, see if Smartscreen is enable, I think that's the name of the thing that does this

Somebody can't into design.
The color coded bar is to change the entire look of the window. Changing just the computer monitor icon doesn't instantly tell you anything if you don't know what it's supposed to look like. There's red all over McAfee without it being turned off.

The two buttons open the Windows Update and Security window and a browser window.
>>
>>51856631
A giant red monitor and giant red buttons do tell me quite quickly that shit's not OK

That's still no excuse for one's icon being much bigger and a dark gray and the other being small and white

No, it doesn't. You being too stupid to know this doesn't change it.

>That's still no excuse for one's icon being much bigger and a dark gray and the other being small and white

It doesn't need an excuse since it's perfectly fine.
>>
>>51855313
holy shit, for once their antivirus or whatever actually works!
>>
>>51856790
MSE was in the top 5 of best free AV some 5 years ago, and then Micro$hit decided to drop the ball, and let it stagnate to the point that you couldn't even call it AV anymore.

Lurk more, there's a thread every other day about how Windows uninstalled third-party software without asking the user.

To be exact they made their first own OS-Tan with Win7, followed my Silverlight, then Windows 8 which got 2 girls at once and another for InternetExplorer and now Win10 with one girl, plus another more realistic bitch called Cortana.
>>
It's open source. Windows also just removes some open source software because it is not "verified by Microsoft". It does not mean anything except they might have some alternative they want to sell you

Wouldn't the ones complaining be more easy to detect?

Open source software lets anyone modify the source code, so its very easy for hackers to put viruses in them. Remember, if you don't pay for it you are the product (as part of joining a botnet), not the customer. That's why you should use your money to buy quality software.
