Bill Gates had a wonderful fix for international income inequality, he funded a bunch of Microsoft courses in India, gave them a lot of computers and then promoted outsourcing to India.
What this actually did was flood a lot of bad code from people badly taught and virtually created the STEM graduate unemployment problem we currently have, because people actually believe only western "seniors" are better than Indians and western "juniors" are just expensive and shit.

STEM job or medicine is like #1 way to achieving value in Indian community.
2.) Getting and keeping a CS related job is easier than most people think; that's not to say there aren't many very hardworking and intelligent people working in IT but just keeping a job has a smaller learning curve and involves less effort than most people realize.
3.) In terms of pay, Indians are willing to accept fairly low standards of living, and tend to be less independent of family but as a consequence have larger family networks they receive support from which makes it easier to work for cheaper.
4.) Like China with manufacturing , India's advantage in services economy of scale; there are a whole lot of them competing for the same positions.
5.) They tend to speak english legibly enough to get by.

there are tons of not hardworking anb un-intelligent people working in IT. One of the few fields that you can just blame a boogy-man (hardware, another group, M$). Being good in IT involves a huge learning curve, but the difference between a good IT person and a lucky bad one is minimal.
I constantly worry that I won't be able to transfer jobs as my town is filling up with these assholes and nobody wants to hire the lazy whitey. I am getting near my 3 year cap and want to work somewhere else.
