Is there anyone here that is actually working on any sort of /g/ project, or are you all just sitting around shitposting on a Vietnamese fishing forum?

Just received a Raspberry Pi 2, waiting on a Adafruit Perma-Proto board, DHT22 sensor, 433mhz transceiver, some IR LEDs and a PIR sensor. Intend to use it all to automate the loungeroom HTPC setup, with later expansion into automating the rest of the house (when smart bulb/adaptors come down further in price)

All projects on hold until I have spending money.

Right now focusing solely on paying bills.

Why not bluetooth?
>>
Last week, I uploaded only one hardcore shemale porn picture in my grandparents digital photo frame than contains something like 200 pics.

This was my big /g/ project this year. Can't wait for new year's eve.

Forgot to mention a whole bunch of Kankun KK-SP3 plugs to switch all devices off when nobody is home

>>51849401

Bluetooth can just plug into USB senpai, same as Wi-Fi - the dongle I'm getting has both

No need to waste precious PCB space if there's unused USB ports knocking about.

Even with the sensors I'm putting on there there may not be enough space. I might need to stack the boards...will find out tomorrow when my Mouser order arrives

>>51849393

I'd say same but I've been saving all year, and rPi projects are hardly expensive

Guess who's on Santa's naughty list for next year

just testing a esp8266 module to be used in robotics
they seem rock solid chips for very little

Ah tru dat, I'm used to thinking about microcontroller boards.
>>
>>51849312
I was thinking about a project that would do just that, with a RasPi as well. Being able to automate/control my HTPC setup from 1 place would be pretty damn nice.

Currently I'm working on a PWM fan controller for my PC. Fan control seems to be in general so retarded, nonstandard and badly supported that just building my own shit seems like the best idea to guarantee that I'll be able to have it working the way I want for my current PC and future builds.
>>
I've been thinking of buying an rPi to use as a home server, but is there any benefit to doing so when I have a laptop that does the job just fine?
>>
>>51849579

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea

I was looking at a Corsair Commander but having it done by a rPi or Arduino would be a bit more of a hassle, but ultimately, a much more complete solution

>>51849312

OP again...

Going to be using OpenHAB for the solution. A few scenarios I'm working on

It'll check if the Kodi screensaver is activated - when it does, it'll check if music is currently playing and if anybody is in the room. If neither, it'll switch off the speakers, sub, and TV from the power socket.

If we've left the house, it'll switch the air-con off. If we're on our way home, if it's too hot/cold/humid it'll set the air con accordingly, unless the doors are open.

>>51849668

Power consumption mainly. And it'd give you a warm fuzzy feeling that you're running a system the size of a ciggie packet.

I'm actually using a TI Launchpad, I have a few left over from another project.

Most of my frustration stems from how limited the PC-side software for fan control is. Is it so much to ask for my case fans to speed up based on both CPU and GPU temperature? This seems like basic shit, making some crap software that looks at a CPU temperature reading while my GPUs could be doing their best to burn the house down in Furmark is retarded. Everything I've seen is completely inflexible and limited in some way.

I've written the MCU firmware and the most important parts of the PC application, now I have to solder shit and finish up the GUI.

I'm waiting on my display to arrive from Chalkboard Electronics. I'm putting together a homebrew tablet using a PCDuino3. I'm a machinist and planing on making the case at work, out of aluminum.

I'm thinking of taking a RPi 2 + USB soundcard and using them to build a cheapie low-fi effects pedal for my bass. Bassists don't really need many effects anyway, but they do get expensive, especially for something you basically just fuck around with.

One of those 7" displays?

I'd love to retrofit one of those to the GPS in my car and set up a car PC.

How thick do you reckon the DIY tablet would be? What are you going to use in terms of battery?

Should really have a trip on as I'm posting so much.

Here's a vid of the Kankun plug I'm gonna use being rooted etc.

Shame kettles don't switch on when you switch them on from the powerpoint. Would save me a trip to the kitchen when I'm making the other half a cup of tea.

I thought arduinos were meant for this heavy stuff

I dont get the difference then, can you explain?
>>
>>51852441
>>51849312

I mean the sensors, IR stuff, i thought only arduinos had them, can you use that stuff with raspbberry pi too?
>>
>>51852563
yes
>>
>>51852611

H-h-how?

Why does the arduino exist, then?
>>
>>51852666
Because Arduino is a micro controller, not a computer.
