Can we get a networking thread? Post your nas, router, etc. Pic related, my shit access point without any custom firmware.
Literally just updated the firmware on my Asus N12-D1 about 5 minutes ago. Internet was going like dogshit. Still going like dogshit. Either comcast is throttling me for downloading 30 gigs over the past two days or It's random internet traffic jam.

Old dog with dd-wrt and a passive heatsink, planing to instal the sd card reader one of this days

America should embrace the botnet and put fiber everywhere.

I'm waiting for something good, because I see the download speeds on /g/ and mine are nowhere close. I've been with like all major big name services also.
I'm thinking of making my computer a NAS after 2016's big upgrade, but if I want ZFS, then I'll need much better memory. There's also the thing about these components not being the most energy efficient out there.
Cheap 2 slot ZyXEL NAS w/ 2x 4tb wd red.
5 port switch
Internet connection via phone wifi hotspot. (No cables in this area)

Carl?
About them modems, do you use the one from your ISP? The one they supplied is a combo and can't even transmit the speeds their offering me through wi-fi with WPA.
Changed from USB storage to SATA
>>51847870
NEVER use a modem/router combo from your ISP if you can at all avoid it. It's usually cheaper to rent a pure modem or buy your own. If you absolutely must, you can just put it in bridge mode and it will act as a plain modem.

and the NAS.
Upgrading to a PERC H700 so I can use >2.2TB drives.
Slow
can anyone suggest a some what cheap (>$100) prebuilt router for pfsense use? I plan on turning my WNDR4300 into a wireless AP and using the pfsense box for DNS, monitoring, and what not.
>>51847964
I'm using it as a modem and turned off its wireless properties. Its only job is to pass the service to my router.

Why are switches such great sluts?
Shameless self bump.
