Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners

If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks, avoid booting to windows for that period of time, or you are likely to start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to linux as your new home and working on making it feel comfortable

You can safely experience installation process and the basic usage through a virtual machine

Shut the fuck up, you can't even select good apps and recommend shit like Sublime and Vivaldi, and deprecated shit like Popcorn Time.

Is arch really a meme? I've been looking at it for a while, as well as manjaro, and manjaro looks like it might be more stable and noob friendly. I see mixed things about both though.
>>
>>51830479
I'm sick of google hangouts, is there some kind of chat for linux and windows users to replace it?

Preferable with features like play gif and webms. And out of any web browser.

Manjaro is the true meme, anon.

Arch is a meme, only fools or hipsters install it.

I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed on a Dell Latitude E6500 with a Samsung SSD and I was really loving it. Smooth, easy, reliable. I've got a problem though, the motherboard on this computer seems to be failing. None of the USB ports work, the display randomly bricks and the power is all wonky. I know this isn't a Linux issue since the exact same thing happens under Windows XP.

Now, one of my family members gave me a Thinkpad T400 for free. I'm wondering, can I can just transplant the drive from the E6500 to the T400 without having to reinstall Ubuntu? I know Windows doesn't play nice with drive transplants but I was not sure about Linux.
>>
>>51830729
You might have a problem with the drivers but it's worth a try.

Why is /g/ so fucking autistic when it comes to generals? Not even on /int/ is there such a hissy fit for the OPs.

Some of the users are in old computers, thats why I don't want to depend of any browser,
isn't tox a /g project that never got well meme'd? I don't have time to learn code to check /gentleman's sneaky code

techy people are prone to autismal fits. It's fun to antagonize them.

I relaly like how the good thread (>>51830487) is having questions and answer, people talking about linux, while this trash thread is being filled with faggots asking to move from here, calling OP a faggot and telling reddit fags to gtfo

It's a project aside from /g/

is not a meme as such, but yes.
I love it but is not for lazy noobs, wiki is great but sometimes imply things that you figure it out fixing things. I learned a lot with arch.
Go with fedora
>>
>>51830750
As far as the drivers go, could I not just plug in an ethernet cable and let Ubuntu do the driver hunt? As long as I don't have anything crashing on me, I'm fine.

>>51830809
That's encouraging.
>>

numix
now hard question
best dark, but not too dark gtk theme?

I'm attempting to mount win7 to a usb in WINE using Rufus since I fucked my drive all up when setting up dual boot and somehow completely destroyed windows.

I'm not sure why but I don't see a single disk/drive anywhere in rufus, or pretty much any other software that I've tried to use like unetbootin.

Any ideas guys? Debian btw.

what does this mean?

Its rather simple choice and how I always seen in done in general therads around 4chan

>this thread posts in the old thread first
>this thread was up sooner
>this thread links to the previous thread

the fag OP seeing as he was beaten in every regard should accept it and just move on instead of making a scene

but whatever, I guess both get used eventually, or the fag OP will bump the wrong thread to keep it up on the first page constantly, I dont really give a fuck

why cinnamon?
>>
>>51832091
This is not the part of the installation. Cinnamon better than Gnome 3, less timesink than xfce and less bloated than KDE. Mate is another good choice but you generally have to do something about the shitty window effects

is better*
