open sorce vs closed source.jpg
109 KB, 576x764
Why can open sores babbies only imitate successful commercial software, yet never have any innovation on their own? I have yet to see an open source software that is fundamentally better than its propietary counterpart.

Adobe Suite > Gimp, Krita, Kdenlive, Inkscape etc
Chrome > Firefox
OS X > Linux
Steam > ?
MS Office > Libreoffice
Mirc > Hexchat
Vuze > qbittorrent (does not even have an antivirus inbuilt)
Any antivirus program > ClamAV
Autocad > Whatever shitty open sores cad software there is
Ableton, FL Studio, Cubase > Audacity, Ardour
Windows Server > Linux
WinRAR > 7zip
TheBat!, Outlook > Thunderbird
Skype > Ekiga, Jitsi, Tox (lel)
TeamSpeak > Mumble (no one uses it)
Teamviewer > ?
NExtstep > Gnustep
Windows GUI > KDE
Mac OS X interface > GNOME

and so on and so forth. come and hit me with your best shot and try to show me an open sores program that is better than the orignal propietary software open sores thieves copied it from.

cmon dude, i use windows but even i know it is not the best. linux has some strengths that outshine both windows/osx especially in server and lightweight operating system that you can construct from the ground up. having a lean system with your choice of packages is very sexy but i am a fuccboi who is addicted to league of legends. so i stay with the botnet.

>having a lean system with your choice of packages is very sexy but i am a fuccboi who is addicted to league of legends. so i stay with the botnet.

I run Windows 10 on a Thinkpad T61 and it doesnt even lag. Meanwhile Open Sores Linsucks is a pita to install. Last time I tried to do it with Lubuntu 15.04, the installer didnt work because of some shitty bug with LUKS.

If Linsucksers ever want to get a good, they should do some quality testing with their shit and have more manpower testing their software before they release it.

And dont even get me started on Arch and other hobby distros that serve no real purpose other than "lol I have too much free time"

its not about lag, its an ocd where you have unwanted applications and packages that you cannot remove normally. using powershell is an easy way out but prior to 1511 it bricked my system so I did not try it again.

i am having frequent stuttering in games and audio playback which i did not experience on windows 7 or linux. it has its downsides but i am using it anyway because no other alternative.

Open source software, so I should explain the go to those who do not know...

Having the code out in the wild also introduces black hat hackers (The bad cunts name zilla or bill) that want to crack it using all the tools they can make or download.

Yeah because mass production in open source drivers is not always perfect. You must remember that to use the software costs $0.

Microsoft has billions a year come from their software. They also pay supporting companies to produce supporting software for their software. That is if the companies requiring support don't flash Microsoft money to say they are support through "testing".

Do people not remember that linux IS A FUCKING PROGRAMMING OPERATING SYSTEM. Linux is not designed for non programming dickheads. Regardless of what flashy looks and shitty bloatware they put into it.

Genuine question about open source.
If something is open source and anyone can add to it, what's stopping someone from adding malicious code onto it?
>>
>>51827381
They'd have to convince you to download their fork

This is actually a problem, but it has to do with people adding beneficial code and malicious autistic faggots from upstream saying "it doesn't fit our ridiculously autisitc design goals, even if supporting it changes nothing"

See: gnome removed transparency from VTE and won't expose some already existing text-selection functions, so now you have vte and vte-ng. Your distro's autistic faggots might be in bed with gnome faggots and tell you to compile vte-ng yourself. Isn't that great?

Open source + asshole apple-wannabe developers = forking hell

>Vuze > qBittorrent
I haven't used Vuze much, but from the bit you just mentioned about it having antivirus built in, it sounds like a bloated piece of shit.

>OSX > Linux
This is objective. Maybe if you fell for the "Macs are better for Photoshop" meme they would seem better, but other than that it's the same crap. Any dev-related benefit OSX has, Linux has already had for a long time.

>WinRAR > 7zip
Like with Vuze, I've used WinRAR a little bit before, and it seemed way bloated compared to 7zip.

>Windows GUI > KDE
The current Windows GUI is counterproductive, I had to fuck with mine for a while before I got it to where it's usable and not just some crap that was made with "devices" having a priority over PC in the design process. And that was on Windows 10. If you were talking about Windows 7-era GUI, I'd say it's = KDE.

I'm really sorry that you spent money on Windows and found out that it's a piece of shit, but please stop taking it out on us, it's not our fault.

>Linux is not designed for non programming dickheads.
Yeah nah bro that's a lie. Linus Torvalds originally intended for Linux to be used as a desktop OS and is weirded out by the fact that its the only field of computing where it doesn't dominate.

Open source faggots always act like they don't understand basic computer concepts when they "try" windows.

On linux: "Oh yeah, just open a CLI and run this command: 'some medium sized command with five parameters' and then reload x, y, and z. It's really no problem if you know ANYTHING about computers"

But when they 'try' Windows: "It didn't load my GPU drivers automatically, and it bluescreened after I downloaded the wrong one!! Fuck Windows!"

I view open/closed source the same way I view political ideologies. For some applications a collective approach not motivated by profit is better; in other cases profit, the free market and competition create a superior product. I use Firefox on a proprietary Windows OS.

What? Windows is shit. It automates everything important locking you into a prison with super basic functions.
>>
>>51821170
there actually is some software which can make your windows read ext2/3/4.
I have it on my laptop and it works good.
