Hi /g/I really need your help. Yesterday my computer suddenly couldn't mount my 1 TB WD external drive. It seems to be corrupt.
The problem is, I had all my porn (almost 500gb in total) which I collected over the last 7 years saved on it!!
I tried software to recover the files but they all don't work because my Mac OS and Windows 8 can't mount it. It just shows up in disk utility on Mac (repair option didn't work) but won't mount. On the Windows it's listed in the device manager but won't mount either (it's NTFS by the way).
It's a probably a problem with the writer or smt inside cause sometimes it made a click sound.
So what can I do? I know there are shops which offer special recovery services for such cases but all files are porn! Also I'm living in Tokyo right now.
Does anyone know how to repair it or any ideas which options I have in Tokyo? Are there maybe shops who wouldn't mind recovering porn?
any ideas?

>omg my porn

Open the case up and check if any of the internal cables are loose. You can also buy another third party enclosure (I've used Sabrent; it works but I'm not saying it's great), put the drive in the other enclosure, and then attach it to your PC to see if it mounts.
Not sure if it's the same on that model or not, but older WD had built in encryption on the board. So even if you removed the hdd inside you were still fucked.

The drive isn't getting enough power senpai.
I'm going to assume it's got a mini USB port...If you have a cable that has two main USB plugs use that. If not, take it out of the case and install it in your computer

We have the Internet now.

Serves you right for buying the highest failure rate hard drive manufacturer
Do your research next time

If testdisk doesn't get it photorec will.
>take it out of the case and install it in your computer
assuming its not one of the drives with the usb directly soldered to the controller board.

OK Mr. 222.72% failure rate

This, also and then try mounting it with a live Linux distro like Ubuntu or Mint.
If they can't read it it's fucked.

It tells me that it can't find the drive
Pic related, the drive

Don't know about WD external drives, but the Toshiba Canvios are notoriously bad about working like shit or not at all. It's an issue with the SATA to USB adapter though, and not the drive itself. The drives themselves are perfectly good for cheap, bulk storage. Removing them from the enclosure and using them internally, or at least with a better enclosure solves the issue. Actually you won't really find a better deal usually on a 3TB internal drive, so they're worth buying and breaking open, though you do void the warranty doing this.
Don't know if that's the issue with your HD or not though, but it could be worth considering if nothing else works.
