I managed to install official Nvidia drivers on Debian easily 5 minutes after installing the OS, and I never used anything Linux-related before. The only annoying thing is that the install won't start if X server is running, but that can be easily bypassed. So I don't see how it wouldn't work on Ubuntu for example.

OS X has proprietary drivers for it, but no nvidia control panel or nvidia-settings or anything of the sort.
So no option to change the output format to limited RGB either so my TV is useless with OS X.
Mint is far from perfect too of course, if I have a video running in a player or browser window all other windows start lagging when moved/resized, the compositing just isn't as smooth as Windows or even Ubuntu.
Then there's gnome-screenshot which is practically unusable.
Want to crop something? Pres Shift + Print Screen, nothing happened, keep tapping PS until eventually it registers the shortcut and opens Gnome Screenshot, then you take the screen shot, but you see the overlay was captured too, so you repeat the whole process several times until it finally works.
After that you give up and install the XFCE screenshot utility. And since you're on the topic of removing shitty software you get rid of fucking Totem, Brasero and a ton of other shit that makes Mint one of the most bloated distros out there.
I love Mint, I've been using it for over a year now, it's without a doubt the single best distro for the masses, but I wish the project was bigger, as big as Ubuntu and the distro was more polished.
