Be honest, /g/:

Do you type properly? Do you just peck at the keys? Something in between?

What is your typical WPM?
What is the fastest WPM at which you maintain accuracy?
>>
>>51812262

Yes

I didnt learn how to type well until i bought a blank keyboard. Honestly however you choose to type doesnt matter as long as you can do it fast and efficiently. Pic related.
>>
I don't use right shift.
>>
My best was a flawless one with 690 keystrokes in one minute, I use all of my fingers efficiently.
>>
Nope I don't type properly.
my left hand does significantly more than my right hand when I type.

The letter "H" has been both using the left hand and the right hand while typing this comment.

I think the farthest over my left hand reaches is sometimes I type "Y" with my left hand.

Typical WPM? Around 90.

Highest I have ever gotten to is 102-110.

I kind of want an ergodox to force me to fix this some day.

Touch type but; I don't use my pinkies on either hand. I'm essentially 8 fingered when typing.

Use my palms for CTRL(learned condition from gaming.) Don't use the home row. No number pad. (Tenkeyless, would never go back.)

I type, consistently, ~120 wpm. Like now, being drunk, I literally can't look at the keyboard when I type because it fucks me up.

Why have I never done this. I've always just awkwardly curled my pinky
>>
I average around 80WPM on typing tests, and I use all my fingers when typing.
My typing technique is far from "proper" though. Basically my right hand is an entire key further to the right that it should be. I also use the left hand for h, y, and b.

I use my right hand for shift, delete, backspace, arrow keys, home, and end buttons frequently. I think that's why I've come to have this posture. It really just came naturally, and I think I would prefer this to traditional typing.

The only non-letter keys I use my left hand for are space, ctrl, and alt.

Anyone else do this?
>>

>2015...still using QWERTY
>a layout designed to make typing more difficult

You faggots will never know the unique pleasure of typing "minimum" on a Dvorak keyboard. Go try it with your QWERTY shitboard...feels ridiculous, doesn't it? The same goes for thousands upon thousands of common English words. Not so for a better layout, like Dvorak or Colemak.

The keyboard layout you've used your whole life is designed to make typing a shitty experience.

It's like you're all running a marathon with your shoes tied, and you're bragging about being the fastest. Enjoy your self torture!
>>
>>51813913
>a layout designed to make typing more difficult
But it wasn't. QWERTY was designed so that typewriters wouldn't get stuck. Before QWERTY, the keys were arranged like a piano, which made it extremely easy for them to hit each other.

~80wpm

>Do you type properly?

My two main problems is that I often don't use shift with the opposite hand like we were always taught to do, and I habitually use my ring finger for delete, instead of pinkie.

Come to think of it, I also use my ring finger on the numpad a lot when pressing anything that isn't a number.

I don't touch type at all. In fact I use three fingers on qwerty. On my left hand, I use my index finger for everything from q to c if you look at it like a square. The rest is done with my index and middle finger on the right hand and my index does about t to n and ring u to l.

When I need to write normal text, without capitals and/or punctuation, I can go really fast; like about 100 wpm. Still got margins for improvement, since I hit wrong keys pretty often.
The problems come when I need to write code. Who the fuck thought that placing all the punctuation under the right pinky was a good idea? This slows me down to, like, 20-30 wpm. It's unbearable. Seriously considering buying an ErgoDox at this point tbqh.

I learned to type on a manual Sears typewriter so I mostly use my index fingers to type, you had to really jam on the keys which is why I do that. I know how to type with the homerow but it's hard to switch after such a long time, it also feels like the homerow is worse for things other than words, I feel like my way allows me to do meta inputs for controlling programs a lot faster and easier, as well as type symbols for programming with no impact on regular words.

I need to put in more time with the homerow to really decide but man is it hard to switch.

How am I supposed to type like this, when I have KB and M positioned like pic related?

Ideally the keyboard is centered with the monitor, but then using the mouse is a pain in the ass.

All this could be solved if "arrow key block" and the numpad were on the left site of the keyboard.
>>
Also I don't like keyboards without a context key. In this webm you can't shift select these.

>>51823067
How big is your keyboard? The left side of my keyboard is flush with the left side of my monitor, my mouse is flush with the right side, the pad extends past the right side but the mouse doesn't travel that far for me because I have the sensitivity very high.

The space that you type on must be aligned with the monitor. When I do that, my numpad is on my mousepad and I get hand cramps.

They're good but kind of obnoxious, you can't eat them and work since they gunk up your hands and you can't even watch shit with them either because CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH.

>Use my palms for CTRL
I can't seem to do this at all, like it's physically impossible with my board and hands while my fingers are on wasd
Can I get a picture?

What possible angle would be able to convey this in a photo?

Open headphones are also a thing.

From the left of the keyboard maybe above the hand angled downward.

If it's too much trouble don't worry about it, I'm just curious if it's more a thing related to hand size or keyboard size/layout.

Left hand:
>Thumb on edge of spacebar
>Pointer on F
>Middle on E
>Ring on W
>Pinkie on A

Right Hand:
>Thumb curled in over Ctrl/alt
>Pointer on <
>Middle on L
>Ring on ;
>Pinrkie on '

And with the right hand i move it left and right along the same rows of keys, bringing me from <L:" to MKL: or NJKL

I tried, sorry for the poor photo. Standard ANSI layout although I do have small hands.
Also I'm not the guy you originally replied to but I do the same thing as he does.

Thanks Anon, I appreciate it. My keys are very close to each other, there's almost no gap, I think that combined with my hand size may be why I can't do it.

>properly
>B is closer to J rather than to F and still assigned to left hand
>need to be spiderman to press Num Lock, 2, 3 and -
>not using thumbs for anything but space
>not contextualizing your hands' positions and fingers' assignments based on the words you're currently typing to maximize efficiency
Your schematic looks autistic and as outdated as the typewriters this keyboard is based on.
