by that logic I'm an addict too.

Teclast X98 Air 3G
looking for sub $150 tablet. don't care for gaming performance as long as UI is smooth.
I intend it to use for textbooks, books, manga, and video
I'd prefer large storage and/or microsd
any recs?

Surface Pro 4 reporting in.
It's crashed while sleeping twice now desu. Also the first one I got had a stuck pixel 24 hours in. Video driver also has crashed 3-4 times. Once the kinks are worked out I think it'll be near perfect.
Is microsoft complete worth it?
That feel when running Ubuntu on TF101 natively :3
>paying more than €130 for a tablet
>buying a tablet that doesn't dualboot dead OSs
Using my HP Touchpad until I get my Jolla tablet never
Has there been a tablet released yet that you can draw on just as well as you would draw on lets say a wacom tablet?
I tried the surface 4 yesterday and while it felt pretty good and natural the stylus does not support tilting from what I heard
I also would like the battery life to last a whole day with moderate to heavy use
Is there such a tablet out there?
>>51812744
iPad Pro Apple Pencil
>>51812798
Oh forgot to mention that I of course want to pirate the tools I need onto the tablet leaving any apple products out of the equation
Honestly I have no clue how a tablet works software wise, Its only the windows ones that work like traditional computers right? and not like closed platforms like mobile phones
>>51812898
>>51812532
yes I'm right here
When?
Getting Linux to work on this plus do so reliably and reasonably well was an utter bitch. Still, it's a very practical little thing with very good battery life now so I'd call it worth.
Z4 tablet mustard raec reporting in
Someone seriously needs to port remix os or any loonicks distro onto this
Got it for $90 on sale at Microcenter. Fast, responsive, decent built in file manager. Great battery life and the screen really pops. The intel chip is a little worse for gaming and stuff compared to a comparable snapdragon, but for general browsing and shitposting from bed, it is perfect.

You're either getting an apple iPad pro with Apple pencil, Wacom tablet with win 8, or a pad and pencil with a thinkpad

I never understood the hardon for 1080p and up resolution screens on small devices. My phone is 720p. My tablet 800. My 14.1" laptop is 1600x900.
Unless the screen is huge, I barely tell the difference other than less battery life.
>>51814211
same here but apparently all the autists on this board have like 20/05 vision and will defend having 1440p+ resolution screens on a 5" device.
>>51814211
>>51814247
How can you not tell double or quadruple the resolution? Are y'all that blind?
>>51814313
My user experience wouldn't be significantly improved if my phone's screen was suddenly 1440p instead of 720p. My phone's battery life and performance would definitely suffer though.
>>51814333
I went from an iPad 2 to the 4 and it was night and day. I don't need more than 10 hours.
>>51814313
This. >>51814333. On a 5-8" device, 720 to 1440 or god forbid to 4k doesnt male a difference to my eye. Im not some old fart either. Like how can you possibly tell me a 2160p screen on a 13.3" laptop is a worthwhile investment?
Same with 1440 on the vast majority of new flagship phones and tablets. Why? For what purpose? If you told me the device cohld output to a 1440p or 4k monitor then I wouod understand. But forba movile device as small as a phone or tablet, it is nothing more than a fatter price tag for you, and less battery life to match.
Amazon fire 7 (5th gen non HD) here. For $35 I cannot fucking complain. Currently rooted with the google play store. Use this thin for shitposting, netflix , other media and remote desktop to my home server / VMs. Currently waiting on a stable build of CM12 for this and I'll do that. Been am iPhone babby since 2008, albeit always jailbroken.
Anybody have any recommendations for Bluetooth keyboards?
>>51814125
This. They just got root.
>>51814499
I just got mine, sadly it auto updated to 5.1.1 which locks you out of booting twrp recovery. So sadly no CM12.1 for me, at least for a while. But I did get the playstore working, so I have all the apps I need at least. For $35, this thing is great.
Acer predator 8.....hopefully I can get a distro on this bitch.
>pic is the experience. Less laggy than most android tablets
>>51814125
Not the poster you answered to, but what should I expect if I get, say, Amazon Fire HD 10, and are there any good alternatives?
I'm looking for pretty much the same things that >>51812598 mentioned; reading books, comics, watching movies, and sometimes browsing the net, although that is not as important as the previous aspects.
Any good, and cheap, recommendations aside from the Amazon Fire ones?
Just fixed my Nexus 7 2013 model, trying to sell it because tablets are fucking useless
>>51812744
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Uses actual wacom and any wacom approved pens work on the tablet. I think it's pretty comfy with its 2560x1600 screen. I have a glossy screen protector that works well as a friction barrier but you can choose whatever.
It run Android, so if you know how to utilize the whole market that OS has, then you're good.

why?

Jailbreak it then download Appcake
>>51816448
Oh man that looks nice...
Shame the lollipop builds for my phone run like shit.
>>51816396
The 4chan website would probably look better than the clover app if you typically browse like this..
I just ordered the nexus 7. Did I goof?
What's a good tablet for watching stuff in bed? Preferably something with a high-res screen. Not sure about the size. Would an iPad be alright?
>>51817093
I would not recommend an iPad for mostly video use; they have 4:3 screens which means ungainly black bars with most modern shows, and playing pirated content on them can be a pain.
The nVidia Shield tablet would be a good choice; its only $200, and has a good 16:10 screen, fast internals, and has a microSD slot that lets you cheaply haul around a ton of videos - you can find 128 GB cards for like $40 now. And nVidia has been pretty good on updates.
>>51813600
hopefully never
>>51812598
I'm pretty sure I saw the Nexus 7 2013 for sub $100 not too long ago, that'd be a pretty good buy.
>>51816448
Why would I? What would I gain from it?
I tried updating several times, but always returned to CM9 official because it has way better standby time than any other rom for some reason, and because Android 4.0 has the superior tablet UI. Anything is a downgrade if it turns my tablet into a bigass phone
Can I install OpenBSD or NetBSD on a Dell Venue 8 Pro? I don't need much to work, no touchscreen or anything, just a headless install
I'm just going to drop in and shill my favourite tablet, the Galaxy Note 8. It's got the wacom stylus of it's big brother, but is small enough to pull out of a pocket and use as a notebook. It's got the splitscreen feature, and pretty good little speakers - I carry it round the house and use it as a radio. And spec-wise it was way ahead of its time, with 2GB RAM and decent performance after over 2 years since its release.
So I read Manga on my T420.
is it worth it grabbing a Amazon Kindle for 50 bucks for this task?
>>51812112
What device is that. Would be awesome if I can do stuff with it with a raspberrypi
>>51820708
It's the iPad Pro
>>51812598
I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7" for about $125. Lollipop is supposedly on the way for it. This will help performance. Marvell chipset ruins CM chance though.
Easy to root.
Great for books.
Clear display.
Great for video.
8gb onboard storage, available SD slot.
Solid battery life.
It's bretty gud.
The Acer B1-730HD can be had for abour $100, that isn't a bad choice either. It has an Intel x86 Atom in it, and is smooth as hell.
I liked my B1-730HD until it fell and broke. Acer also refuses to update to newer than 4.4.2
Fonts were a little blurred when reading books.
Video was good.
Battery life was so so.
