I'm looking at joining Tutanota. It looks very good.
Convince me it actually sucks.

What is the best email service provider?
>>
Disregarding making your own, Probably something like gmail with Protonmail as a backup for stuff you want an extra layer of security for.
Add a Cock.li account for unsafe stuff.
>>
Posteo are pretty nice people
>>
I've been using Tutanota because I forgot my Protonmail login, and it's pretty alright. Nice interface.

I have a tutanota address, it's pretty sweet

If you close your eyes at the blatant invasion of privacy, then probably google mail.

It's gratis to use, it at least pretends to try to fight spam, all around featureful and literally everyone supports it.

I have to admit I fell for the protonmail meme but after the whole ddos thing and them succumbing to an israeli company for ddos protection I have my doubts.
It also doesn't support imap, which is fine by itself, but they don't have a native BBOS10 applcation that would allow me to use it as my daily.

The best all around solution is hosting your own mailserver on a beaglebone or something like that.
Cost of energy - 5 euros a year tops
Cost of domain (depending on your needs, the cheapest i found was a region.countryTLD domain for 1€ a year).

But
>full control over your server
>can use whatever software you like
>can register all your family
>NSA not sniffing ur buttocks

Well, for one thing it's German.
And it's hosted in Germany.

You ought to remember that Germany is a vassal state of United States of America (and >inb4 tinfoil, German constitution was written by americans).
German secret services are controlled by the American government as well as the German armed forces.

There was a report how German secret services allowed US government to spy on their own citizens as long as US government shared their data collecting technology with German secret services.

At least protonmail tries to market their service decently by claiming their servers are Switzerland based.

What's wrong with Israeli companies? Are you a failestan sympathizer?

>>51808531
You're oversymplifying Germany's relation with the US quite heavily there m8

I couldn't even sign up to gmail without inputting my phone number, so I decided to go elsewhere. Nice "service" they've got there.

Like I said, if you close your eyes at the blatant invasion of privacy.
Learn to read.

Besides, this whole number thing must be recent, I have a gmail account from quite some time ago and I didn't input my number.
>>

I think it depends on the region where you live, because I never had to put in my phone number to create gmail accounts, even now.

I do have my phone number on my main gmail account though, for the extra security which is a bit more important than my privacy as it's tied to my name anyway.

Well yeah I do too, since I got an warning from google that someone with a chinese IP repeatedly tried to access my account. I use the two step verification since then. It's quite convenient since your password doesn't have to be as complicated

Germany is the only western country where the politicians openly support encryption and privacy.

Dutch politicians support encryption and privacy.
Just as much as they support spionage.

Everything goes is Dutchieland.

Dutch politicians live in Holland and as far as I know they don't openly support encryption. If they support encryption then they do it secretly. It is the same as here in Norway, no politician wants to openly say encryption is a good thing it would be seen as helping terrorists.

Some "sharia law demand that people have a right to cover up themselves and their private life" outlier politician?
>>

>imports terrorists
>want to ban encryption because it aids terrorists

Why again, should anyone take politicians seriously?
>>
>>51809487
The Dutch parliament supports encryption and the Dutch government has no official stance on the matter, which means there is no political support for what they'd want to see.
