CX750M*
Good or bad? Any recommendations for a 2tb hdd
>>51804852
hitachi or western digital for the hdd
So it seems like memory is bottlenecking my Fallout 4 experience. Is it worth it trying to get faster DDR3, or should I just go ahead and jump onto X99 and DDR4 (i7 5820K and 32GB)?
>>51804858
>western digital for the hdd
Since /g/ had no issue accepting Backblaze's stats that said Seagate was shit, you guys should have no problem admitting that WD hard drives are complete trash. :^)
>>51804888
You are an absolute fucking retard. Memory speed does literally nothing for video games. Kill yourself you tech-illiterate FUCK.
>>51804959
hgst and hitachi are the same company, what a bullshit graph
Here's everything I've bought since October for my Christmas build. Total cost was about $1400 usd.
>>51804888
Thats a cute computer. Kind of hot desu.
>>51804971
Also HGST belongs to WD
even more bullshit graph

>>but only single channel?
Leaving room for expansion is more important than bandwidth gains from double channel.
>>Why no 980ti?
Budget.
>>ITX?!?!
Because I can and I see zero downsides except memory bandwidth, which with 3200 DDR4 isn't an issue for tasks I do. Dual GPU solutions are for chumps.
>>X99?!
Game, stream, render/edit video, budget exists, cheaper the Z170. It's all upside, so why not?
fugggg it really added up over time.

>he fell for the seagate meme
they are cheap for a reason

Just take a look at my silent assassin build
>>51805585
Haha I just had one on hand, probably left over from work or something, hence the $0 price.
Christmas present for my brother in-law.
>>51805531
$200 970, impressive senpai.
>>51805729
thanks bb. I bought it off of some dude on craigslist, then immediately drove to Best Buy and exchanged it for a new one. :^)
>>51805137
skylake is gey
Took me a month or so to get all these parts gathered. I used the prices I paid at the time. I got the two monitors off craigslist with a dell dual monitor desk stand.
Very, very happy with it.

how did you manage that? didn't need to show a receipt or anything?
>>51807215
Seller still had the box and everything, I just told them shit was fucked and it was a gift. The manager just did a no-receipt exchange and didn't seem to give a shit at all.
I think it helped that the card was pretty much only sold at Best Buy.
>>51803613
Do you really need a 4790?
It's overkill if it isn't for rendering
Intel i5 4690k
GTX 970 Gigabyte Gaming G1
16GB HyperX DDR3 ram
2x4TB WD Red NAS HDDs
2x500gb Kingston SSDs
Be quiet! straight power PSU
Asus z97 motherboard, forgot the details
Fractal Define r5
I think the only thing I'd change is maybe upgrade the PSU at some point so I can overclock the CPU without having to worry about a lack of power. Other than that, maybe get some newer SSDs, though these Kingston ones still work perfectly fine after having been in use for at least three years now. Don't think I'll be upgrading my graphics card anytime in the near future since the only game I play as of late is insurgency.
I have a system with an i5 3570, a gtx 770 and 8g ram, I have some money to burn. Would it be worth it at this point to build another?
any advice?
i want to build my first gaming pc and run the latest games on 1440p

I don't get why they even market stuff with his name. He's mediocre at best.
I remember when he left the Quake 2 scene because he got owned by everyone (me included :^) ).
>>51808799
which motherboard would you recommend? i am quite new to this
>>51808792
My case doesn't have a window and I don't give two shits, so no.
How does this look? I'm just gonna run everything on 1080p
anyone have a better idea for the motherboard?
>>51803613
This is essentially the same pc I built over the summer, different brands and case though. Also got a 750 psu. OC the 970 and this build is definitely worth the money.
Does anyone know if 750 for power is enough for SLI with two 970s?
>>51803613
I have that case. It's neat.
>>51805137
do you want to RAID1 the ssd?
>>51808885
it looks ok, psu and mobo seem a little expensive but I'm just ball parking with whatever money thats in.
>>51805624
>AMD
you must hate him...
>>51809786
Yes, but it was also about $40 cheaper that way at the time.
>>51804969
Too bad it's been shown in benchmarks that the speed of your RAM does actually affect the fps.
Now go back to your buzzwords and act like a smart ass elsewhere.
is i5 sufficient for high end gaming or should i get i7 instead?
>>51809980
No its not. I suggest getting an i7-e from the broadwell-e line. Perferably the 8/8 core one.
Once akylake-e comes out you can upgrade to one of those.
>>51809890
your not wrong also not right either. It only affects low end cpus.
>>51809980
You only need an i7 if you have a high end card and want to play af 120+ fps. Otherwise its better to use that extra money on a better gpu.
>>51810214
I was planning on getting a gtx 970
>>51810254
an i5 and 390x/980 would be better than an i7 and 970 for gaming in almost every case.
>>51809803
Thanks, I switched to a cheaper PSU, but the mobo is the cheapest one for 1151 that I can find
r8 my m-itx build, I just purchased the nano, memory, and storage. Just waiting for the case to be released in the US
