Tried multiple stock based roms and CM 12.1 (it's actually really stable, wonder how the devs did that..) but the battery is weak compared to stock, and there are still some serious bugs.
CM 11 was the first custom rom I've tried, but it crashes a lot (when I get everything installed - supersu, music players, games...)

Try OmniROM, install xposed, then install powernap. It'll restore your battery life.
Also look into kernels that have fiops, voltage control, and allow every cpu step. Fiops will get you smoothness that allows you to underclock without a performance hit, voltage will give you slight savings in battery but also coolness, and allowing every clock step means your phone will utilize lower speeds whenever available.
For a full app battery boost, use:
Powernap (Replicates stamina mode)
Amplify (Use to moderate Google's rediculous wakelocks)
Nobars (If you frequently have poor signal)
