Chromebit. You can't do anything but web-browse on these shitty machines so why not get one that will do it well?
>>
>>51800500
Will it run Ubuntu? I hate Chrome OS.
>>
>>51800500
do you even htpc
>>
Lenovo actually has pretty nice one
>>
What are these good for? Maybe kodi?
>>
>>51800541
Perfect for TV media centre
>>
>>51800517
Good luck using one of these as a fucking HTPC. Over fucking Wi-Fi, no less.

>>51800516
I don't see why it wouldn't, but I'm not 100% sure it can
>>
never have enough sbc threads
>>
These may look great but got damn do I have huge buyers remorse for getting one, coudln't do anything at all, even browsing and XBMC was slow as all fuck...

Good thing I had leftover parts, bought a mini-itx mobo and case instead lot better.

Disappointing news, but thanks. You just saved me >$100.

I'm really happy with my Chromecast + PLEX
>>
Have only used one type, but I was mildly impressed by the QuantumAccess mini PC. I'm using several of them to power overhead displays in a call center. Windows 8.1, 32GB storage (19 available after Windows Updates). It is some basic edition of Windows, so no RDP, but VNC works fine.
>>
>>51800803
What did you wanted to use one for?
>>
>>51800828
Basically browsing, netflix, jewtube and stuff.
>>
Intel

Always and only buy Intel
>>
>>51800834
I don't see the problem with browsing if you don't mind it being a little slow like those 1ghz AMD laptops.

But once you go to netflix and YouTube at 1080p, then you'll get disappointed pretty fast.
Maybe make a small build with leftover parts, as long you slap an SSD which can even be a cheap 64GB one, then it is fast.
>>
>>51800834
You're better off waiting for the cherrytrails versions when they release. I had an atom 3740 device. Videos at 720p ran good on YouTube, while 1080p stuttered. Skype worked well, and emulators upto n64 worked well. Netflix works well on the app, and worked at 1080p.

I personaly doubt that even the next gen sticks will deliver, with current tech, such small size factor comes with huge performance cons.
>>
>>51800834
If you can tolerate a bigger size, then a AsRock Q1900-ITX might fit your usage better.

I have one in a Chieftec IX-01B case with a ssd and a 500gb 2.5" hdd running Kodi, and the setup is sweet.
Runs everything i throw at it.

Go to your local thrift stores and look for a decent used tower. It will be cheaper and much more versatile.

how is the HEVC/265 performance of the J1900?

I assume it can't into 4k 265, but can it do 1080p 8bit 265?
>>
>>51802884
I haven't tried it, but i guess that h.265/AVC could struggle with a J1900 since it is CPU intensive.

A i3 is probably better if you want to play h.265/AVC and 4K content.

It's quite the jump in price tho.

this tbqh familiars - especially if you get it on the cheap and it works, you'll be able to upgrade parts to it and make it smooth like butter
