Okay, /g/, we're going to run through a live version of the Monty Hall problem, right here in this ITT thread.

I have 3 files, door1, door2 and door3. In one of them, I have CAR_ followed by 12 random characters. In the other two, I have GOAT followed by 12 random characters.

To prevent me, the host, from cheating by switching doors around, I have sha256sum'd each file: http://pastebin.com/VWaS0aEp

After a door has been selected by 3 posters¸ I will consider that door to be our selection. I will then reveal a goat door, and its contents (you can verify this with
echo GOAT############ | sha256sum
). Then our choice to stay or switch will be determined by 3 anons, like before.

Hopefully a live simulation such as this will shed some light on the problem, and make the solution easier to grasp.

we're not doing your homework for you, asshole

Always switch doors.

Problem solved.

I vote for door number 1

How could this possibly be homework?

Door 1!
>>
Guys, I think the OP is trying to say he found collisions for SHA256 by changing the random characters, and cheating so we never win.

This is a major breakthrough and will change cryptography as we know it!

We just need one more vote, or I could make it the first 2 instead, if there's not enough interest
>>
>Hopefully a live simulation such as this will shed some light on the problem, and make the solution easier to grasp.
The way to explain the problem the best is to use extremely large numbers instead of just 3, thats when it clicked in my brain....

- imagine you have 10,000 doors
- behind one the there is a brand new car
- behind 9.999 of them are goats
- pick one door
- oh, you lucky number - doors #541
- now the host of the show will go and open all at once 9,998 doors
- leaving your door #541 closed and another one lets say #133
- will you switch door?

you now see how obvious it is
you had 1 : 10,000 chance of picking up the right door
but now when its your crappy choice vs the other single door.. its quite obious
>>
>>51792715
I voted for door 2 but I change mine for door 1 ok?

The solution is already easy to grasp if you have more than a moron level mathematics education.
>>
>>51792818
this desu senpai.
Math is a meme anyway

Seems like /g/ might be too slow for 3 anons per choice. Next game we'll go with 2 instead.

First Choice You have a 33.3.% chance of getting it right.

One door is excluded now your asked again. Picking the other door now has a 50% chance of being right. What is hard to understand about this?

wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!

damn i wanted the goat

for sexual intercourse
>>
>>51792974
It's not that easy to grasp as you don't seem to understand it (or are trolling)
But once the host revealed one goat you actually have 2/3 chance of winning if you switch.

low IQ motherfucker right here who have trouble grasping the concept enough to understand why it gives people trouble yet feels like he is some light of knowledge, I bet you suck in school
>Picking the other door now has a 50% chance of being right. What is hard to understand about this?
because people think that not changing the door is the other 50%
large number of doors reveal why its wrong.

Door three
>>
>>51793028
I think that the best way to understand it is to focus on the initial conditions :
In the beginning, you have 1/3 chance to win,
after choosing a door the host proposes you a new deal :
you can keep your initial choice, or get the TWO other doors and I will clear one of them (as there is obviously a goat behind one of the remaining doors)

Thinking it that way you can clearly see the difference between keeping your choice (1/3) or choosing the 2 others (2/3)
