Will a 4chan project ever make it past the logo?
>>
It's not a 4chan project, but it is about 4chan
>>
>>51788966
Yea it is
Someone in >>>/dpt/ is making it
>>
>>51788987
(I am)
>>
>>51788893
>look at me I'm retarded!
>>
Didn't one of the devs steal some of the money?
>>
>>51788893

Why did theyrefuse to fix it? Wasn't privacy the main selling point?
>>
>>51788815
>>51788892
Well, I use it to talk with my family, too. It works.

>>51789005
Privacy is a selling point (as much as free software has a selling point). It still is developing.
>>
>>51789005
There is no reason to fix it because it is not a flaw and it doesn't leak anything. Don't fall for the memes please.
>>
uTox works perfectly. Really nice tbqh.
>>
>>51789369
>leaks your IP

I appreciate your input, especially when supplemented with citations.
>>
They probably spent more time on the logo than programming and doing security research.
>>
>>51788893
Leaking IP? Explain how this even works? you get free IP addresses?
>>
>>51788966
what is up with that disgusting UI. Looks like Gnome shit.
>>
>>51789670
If you connect to someone, you're connected to someone! OMG LEAK!
>>
use i2p-messenger
>>
>>51789005
It's peer-to-peer. The people you are chatting with know your IP address, use Tor tunneling if that bothers you.
>>
Why bother? You can just use SMS and get away with a coordinated attack like in France.
>>
>>51790831
Only if you don't intend to survive. If you do intend to survive, you have to cover your tracks.

Leaving all trolling aside, p2p messaging does not look like to be suitable for mobile, too much bandwidth usage and related power consumption due to long lived connections. A supernode/helper server infrastructure is needed to remedy this, which beats the point. Better use Signal at this point.
>>
>>51788815
It was killed by trolls and/ or NSA shills.

Most people quit. One developer, Sean Qureshi, stole money, and now irungentoo just steals people's money on indiegogo to write doucmentaton.
>>
>>51791614
this
I'd use Signal as soon as it loses its proprietary GSF dependency. P2P just comes with those problems on mobile and if they're ever solved we can switch to to a P2P app. Don't really see any alternatives to Signal atm since Moxie's kinda the only crypto hardass around developing such an app right now.
>>
>>51788966
What browser if that

Tox is supposed to prevent Man in the Middle Attacks. You should trust the person on the other end of the connection, and if not, there's support for proxying and Tor on most clients.

This statement should be posted in every Tox thread made past this statement.
>>
They really should have used C++.
I remember seeing some UI code with raw bitmaps in the code for icons

Trying to write secure code for a crypto application in C was and still is a recipe for disaster
