Just because the OS is included in new machines does not mean it is "free".

Fuck off with elemementaryOS, you didn't knew about how they ranted on the people using it because they don't donate?

Fuck, people got to develop under the open-source logo and demand donations otherwise they get butthurt

That's what happens when broken feminists get to use linux and "contribute" on open-source projects.

Again, gtfo with your shitty OS, linux is not for GUI faggots like you ( and if you like GUI, use something mature like GNOME/KDE)

Are you really upset because some devs complained that they wanted people to donate more? How does that affect you? They made an OS that is lightweight, easy to install and appeals to tech illiterate Apple drones. You don't have to use it or even acknowledge it's existence. Why the fuck do you morons always have such an elitist attitude towards other people? If anything, babby OS's might get more people interest in Linux.

OSX forces me to switch to Apple hardware, a cost I am not inclined to bear just to use an OS that offers me no real advantage over Windows besides aesthetics.

Maybe if I were a musician or doing video editing on regular basis, I would invest in a Mac because that is their unique selling point.

For a workstation/gamer perspective, Mac is a useless toy.

>>51787701

>>
>>51787426
First, it does not look the same. Not that aesthetics are everything, but seriously it doesn't. ElCap has lovely frosted glass effects everywhere which are borderline impossible to achieve with any Xorg compositor. eOS is basically just a Gnome 3 theme with slightly graduated grey borders. Also, although the handful of bundled applications are quite consistent, that doesn't spread to basically any third party application.

Secondly, depending on your job it cannot do the same things. Sure you'll be okay if you're just running Sublime and a terminal, but if you need any high-quality specialised tools you're very likely out of luck. And you'd better hope your client doesn't send you a PSD or DOCX to study because you're at best going to see broken bastardised versions of them.

Gnome 'werks', but only as single touch for most sensors. I have an Asus Vivobook X202E and it works just as a mouse emulator of sorts. I mean, it moves the cursor to the absolute position you touch, but only one position at a time, unlike Windows were the cursor is hidden and you can use all five fingers at once (you can see the trail for all five when you move them). Also, neither Midori, Firefox nor Chrome support touch and drag scrolling as in Windows per default.

i3/Arch user here. You're fucking joking right? A wooden spear with obsidian tied to the top with sinew and a steel pole with a high carbon, polished powder coat sharpened to precision degrees are two different ballparks.

People pay money for Mac to have a hassle free, highly polished computing experience that is offered by a single computer to minimize incompatibility and bugs and maximize efficiency and uniformity. That's why until now iPhones still only had 512mb of RAM.

Buying a Dell, an apple, custom building your own rig to look nice and perform are all entirely different sections of the population.

>Buy pre-made cheap variant of business oriented pc system
>Custom build high end workstation to fit my particular needs
>Purchase pre-made high end hardware quality controlled by a single company for consumer use.

It's that simple. Macs are for people who want to create media and to consume media. Pc and Linux are for people who mean business. And that's just the way it is. Price is negligible and completely reflects what the market is willing to pay.
>>
>>51787101

Yeah, man. How have you been? Still working on your hentai app? I would love to use it someday though.
>Is that windowmaker you're running?
Yeah, installed it with macports but it's not worth it. It crashes all the time. I'm using bspwm again, now.
Also, nice vector >>51788733
I see you had improved a lot.

W-wait...

No.

I dunno, I never give anything an opinion until I try it. First I tried os x on imac and was pretty disappointed because of shitty mouse, hotkeys I didn't know and that retarded UI like "if you want to install an application, drag'n'drop it in this fancy painted window". After that I had to use old unibody macbook for about a week, that's when I liked it. Muh hotkeys, muh freebsd inside, no x for no crashes and whatnot. The trackpad is really nice, before this I never believed this type of pointing device would be comfortable for me. I'd never buy an apple desktop though, any modern PC can do the same.

It's still a very young distro, I feel your feels about it not being great. I like the direction it's going though

Not been doing much to be honest, just taking a small shitpost break before I go back to studying for my finals. The OS X hentai organizer app was by another anon, I'm also interested in getting my hands on it though, it looks great. Also, that vector was not made by me, although I am steadily improving. How about you, I don't think I've seen you post for a while, I was worried that you were taking a break or something.

Linux isn't supposed to look good. It's all about function over form. That doesn't mean it can't look good just that's it a not a priority so it will remain not beautiful for the foreseeable future and that's okay.

Holy shit, thanks William "daKuck" Gates!

C'mon mane, the idea is not only look but feel. I like OS X font rendering, compared to shitty blurry gnome, xfce and whatnot fonts.

Wow I can just tell that all the macfags here accidentally bought a mac or were given one, and since that's the only thing they use and don't know much about technology, they try to justify having the worst OS available out there. They try to sound like they know what they're talking about and their only argument is "looks" even though they've been proven that those traffic lights look ridiculous and the icons look as if it was a fisher price machine. I don't even like elementaryOS' look but I can recognize that it has a better design than OSX.

Really though, I feel there should be an outrage since Linux is free and OSX isn't and OSX doesn't even support all applications, yet they have the nerve to charge for updates lol. What makes people who don't know anything about technology change to OSX? Nothing but shilling and advertising.
It's just counter-intuitive to start using an OS which many apps don't support as a normie. Sure there are alternatives, but we can use that same excuse for Linux. It also has wine.

Oh, I feel you. Same situation here but I finally got a job, now.

>The OS X hentai organizer app was by another anon
Really? I thought it was you.

In this case
In this case, care to share it? Have you made any other vector? I mean, you have some kind of fetish with maids, right, as I can see you also like Kohaku so much.

>How about you, I don't think I've seen you post for a while, I was worried that you were taking a break or something.
Nah, I'm back, again. I'm posting on desktop threads now and then. I just came here because I thought I could find you.

Coincidence that maids just happen to be best girls usually :^)

That's a good idea actually, haven't used IRC in ages though. You should make a channel instead, while I mull over which client to download
