Why is my 840 EVO so fucking slow?

Did you apply the firmware patch?
When was the last time you made a complete reformat?
>>51786860
>Did you apply the firmware patch?
Unless there is some patch I'm unaware of, yes.
>When was the last time you made a complete reformat?
Probably like 6 or 7 months ago.

Using a SATA3 port? I accidentally put mine into a SATA2 port on my board and it was much much slower than it should have been.
>>51787006
>Using a SATA3 port?
yes
>>51786481
you fell for the EVO meme, thank you for supporting the Samsung Democratic Republic of Korea
>>51786481
>he fell for the non-SLC meme
Oh my god. I was about to buy that.
>>51786481
Did you defrag the drive?
>>51786481
>samshit
>trusting the korean jew
>>51787123
no. it has only been on for 600 days and only had 5.8TB written to it so I don't understand why it's so slow.
>>51786481
I am using it with sata1. Even mine is faster than that.
Seriosly though what matters for desktop are access time and i/o per sec. You got nothing to worry about.
>>51787123
That would not make it slow.
>>51786481
Reformat. I would guess you're having problems with block size or something. Also, maybe TRIM is not enabled.
>>51787419
Trim is enabled and I manually do it every so often as well, like before these tests.
Why would reformatting help?
>>51787437
Because if nothing is wrong with the hardware, something may be wrong with the FS. As I said, it could be that the incorrect block size has been used by the FS and that's why it's slow.
>>51787463
So you think windows just magically fucked up my partitions when I reformatted 6 months ago, but it definitely won't do it again...?
>>51786481
Had the same problem as you with my 840 EVO. Updated the firmware with this a few days ago: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/downloads/software/Samsung_SSD_840_EVO_EXT0DB6Q.iso
Back to normal read/write speeds now.
>>51787528
If you checked my image I'm already on that firmware.
>>51787510
Or that you set it incorrectly, yes.
>>51786481

Why did you just zero out your drive, anon?
>>51786882
run performance optimiziation, duh, baka, desu, senpai.
>>51786481
Speed looks about right to me.
>>51786481
Gee, I'm sorry, OP
