why would you need a phone to be thinner than you need to keep in your pocket without discomfort?

I was about to post the same thing but they're still Apple apologists.

>These are not deal breakers. Nobody should really use these grievances as reasons not to pony up for these accessories. The Pencil and the Magic Mouse 2 charge incredibly quickly, so its understandable the devices would be unusable during the charging process. It doesn't really matter what the iPad Pro looks like when it's not in use — it's just in your bag anyway. And the iPhone 6S battery case is not designed to make your phone look better; it's for giving you extra juice, which is arguably more important than how nice the device looks.

The Verge will never change.

Pretty much this. I have no plans on upgrading either my Nexus 5 nor my iPad Mini 2. We've hit the point where the hardware far supersedes the requirements for software.

correction

>And while Magic Mouse 2 is said to charge up for 9 hours of use in about 2 minutes and about a month’s worth of use in just a couple hours, the Lightning port’s placement on the bottom does rule out using Magic Mouse 2 at all while charging. As demonstrated in the video, though, Apple’s new Lightning Dock intended for iPhones makes for a handy Magic Mouse 2 dock as well.

http://9to5mac.com/2015/10/14/magic-mouse-2-unboxing-video/

a months worth of charge off a full battery. so 2 minutes a month on the charge cable.

it takes about the same amount of time to go find the batteries for any other mouse, open the mouse, replace the batteries, and turn it back on

Not all all for my Nexus 5. Perhaps on my iPad Mini 2.

>If your phone could control everything in your house and act as a PC
It practically can/does. I can turn my PC/projector/lights/heating on and off with WiFi. My Note 3 could do all of that, plus my TV and other IR devices. If I want to use my N5 as a PC, I practically can. Slimport adaptors can be bought for a few bucks, and I already have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. There are multiple solutions to make desktop computing feel better, such as multiwindow mods and shit.

Alright let's be real here. Most normies will not care about this stuff. They'll either shrug it off or won't even know this shit even exists.

I think the real test that will tell us all if Apple can get away with literally anything is what happens with their car. That's the only thing that has the potential to hurt them financially if it bombs because that's a totally new market for them. Apple can't just enter the luxury car market and alienate a huge portion of their customers, so they have to try have some mainstream appeal with the car. But at the same time, Apple makes their money from having huge profit margins on their products. A luxury that most car manufacturers do not have.

The only way Apple can try and be competitive with pricing is to take advantage of those EV government rebates, admittedly I don't know too much about them but it seems like that brings down the price of Teslas by a good chunk.

If Apple puts out a self-driving EV between $35K-$40K then it'll probably do pretty well. But if it's not self-driving and it's expensive as hell then I dunno, somehow I doubt people will be going ahead and buying these cars because most people won't even be able to afford them.
>>
>>51782911
Applel will pull out as soon as they realize the profit margins are in the fractions of a percent rather than double digit percentages.

>>
>>51783144

Isn't Google so ubiquitous at this point to where people will just download theirs anyway?

The year 2015 and a bigger tablet, a pencil, a mouse that you can't use while charging and a battery case (aren't battery banks better?) are the most hype products coming from Apple.

The point of having the port under the mouse is so that you cant use it while charging. And why? I can only imagine they want to distinguish between charging and use (discharging). Where charging only takes 2 mins for a 9 hour charge, this is a technological feat to normies (me even) that apple wants the user to experience, as sad as it sounds.

I think Steve Jobs being an asshole at thr company was a good thing. He probably would've told whoever designed this shit that they are stupid idiots and to start over.

Apple is the new Microsoft.

They currently have a winning formula and has become increasingly afraid to deviate from their current formula even as the rest of the industry moves on to something better.
>>
>>51788837
The funny thing is that Apple had AA batteries in the last mouse but they didn't last as long.

Why can't other companies get this right? Logitech isn't great but their wireless peripherals are the best.

Because they just say "fuck any kind of standards, here's a dongle we made" and do whatever they want with their own protocol.

That means every 9 hours of use you need to flip your mouse over to charge it, it's bizarre. My mouse takes one AA. I use it three to four hours a day, and I make sure flick the switch to off when I'm done. So far the current battery is on its seventh month. Seven months on one AA battery.

It's a little Logitech M325. It has a micro-click scroll wheel with forward/ back function rather than side-scrolling. I highly recommend it if you want a cute little mouse.

The ONLY thing I can do to try and defend apple with this is to point out the fact that there technically isn't room on the front of the Magic mouse 2 and they did want to keep the design the same.
However they could have made an exception, put it on the side, or anything just to give you the ability to use it while it charges.

I know it's supposed to only require 2mins of charging to last 7 hours but still...

A phone case with a battery pack in it is a conceivably useful product, but if you're going to have a battery pack strapped do your phone... how much space do are you really saving by sizing it to cover 60% of the phone? Why wouldn't you just make it the same size as the phone and pack a bigger battery in it?

Also, why wouldn't you just make a mouse that charges inductively and then make a mousepad charger for it?
>>
>>51801231
>Why wouldn't you just make it the same size as the phone
You'd have to make an odd cutout in the area around the camera and flash, and there's the possibility of the flash bouncing off said cutout and coloring your photo. there needs to be an area that can flex to insert & remove the phone. Designwise, it maintains a symmetry

>why wouldn't you just make a mouse that charges inductively and then make a mousepad charger for it
Then faggots would herp their derps over iMousepad and repeatedly claim it's needed in order to use the mouse no matter how many times they're debunked.
