Does someone use this for real?

lubuntu here, pretty sleek
>>
I used and still like awesome.
I installed Debian 8 with cinnamon, which has been good. I like a more mainstream desktop WM because it seems more well-rounded. It was a PITA to think about customizing awesome to get like multimedia keys to work or easily connect to networks, change resolutions, etc...
>>
I use it, it just works

bloated he says.
you mean the features? ;~)
feel you though. pretty uncomfortable to have a DE drop a package bomb on your setup.

What ui designers do when they can't write efficient code.

Its time for an upgrade. Nothing about gnome is bloated or slow.

2/10 for making me reply

Its not slow. But it is buggy and bloated.

Stop holding on to that Pentium 4 then gramps.

Yep, I like that things like setting the volume and connecting to the internet are easy to use. Only need terminal and firefox so window mangement is not a problem

Considering my options as I prepare to install Linux over Windows. As an XFCE fan, would I like Cinnamon?
>>

If you're an XFCE fan, why don't you use XFCE?
>>

This.
>>
>>51781213
Not since GNOME 2. They totally fucked everything with 3.
>>

>>51782082

I may end up doing that, but I'd like to check out some alternatives as well. I just wanted to see if anyone who's used both had any input on it.

It's pretty but it needs more resources than XFCE and it's less costumizable without scripting. If you don't care about resource consumption you may as well use KDE instead.

Resource consumption isn't important to me. What do you like about KDE that causes you to recommend it over Cinnamon? Would that be the customization aspect? I've never really used anything except XFCE.

It's pretty, costumizable and more mature than Cinnamon or Gnome 3.

Though personally I prefer XFCE over anything because it just werks.
