need an expert opinion. I have a i7 2600k, I have the option of upgrading to fx 9590, Do i need an upgrade or should I keep the cpu? I'm upgrading my pc, getting a gtx 980 ti and low on budget.
Keep the 2600k. The 9590 will use way more power and only just be marginally better. You won't notice anything different between the two.
Put a space heater in your and crank it all the way up whenever your computer is on. It achieves the same results.

Well mine is a second gen 2011 release... You guys think I should honestly keep it? Because I'll be getting a new motherboard and don't want to upgrade the board again, not till 3 years from now. My current board only supports ddr2
The board that I'm trying to get is ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard. Is it any good?

not one of these things goes together.

i knew it, and i took the bait anyway.
Stick with your i7, the fx-9590 is not a worthwhile upgrade. Also get an AMD GPU instead, they are better for VR.
If you really must upgrade the CPU, get a Haswell-E CPU and a compatible motherboard (LGA2011-3) instead.
hijacking thread:
what's the cheapest LGA1150 board i should get for a 4790k?
